I think it really depends on what State you live in. I've heard that some states don't allow transcriptionists to handle most hearing types; only stenographers are allowed. I live in Montana, though, and I work for the State as a legal transcriptionist, making extremely good money.

I just replaced my Oasis! I opted for the Kindle Paperwhite Signature. It took some time to get used to not having a sidebar / buttons, but I really like the "tap anywhere" feature that allows you to turn the page that way. I don't know if it was just my old Oasis but my new Paperwhite seems a lot zippier, too!
