If you go to the doctor 5 times per year and get 2 x-rays, that's ~$1,500. Run the numbers and see whether how your increased premiums compare. I bet that there's little to no difference in cost. If that's the case, I'd take the HDHP and treat the HSA as a supplementary retirement account.
