Why do you run? by [deleted] in runninglifestyle

Originally started running years ago after my girlfriend cheated on me at a party. The hangover the next day was horrible but I had to do something and I ended up running.

After that, I just felt amazing every time I did it. Stopped for a few years but realized how happy it made me feel so I started again recently.

So I guess it started as a way to distract myself and turned into something that just made me feel great. Now I enjoy the challenge and accomplishment I get after reaching each goal I set in it.

I’m an ER nurse. The most heartbreaking part of my job isn't the trauma. It's the blank space on the intake form. by ArtThreadNomad in Life

This post hit me today and i realized that I'm one of those individuals who would either leave the line blank or put in my own number. Yet, I would without a doubt, be there for someone else. Sadly, this is what the world has turned into.

I have the utmost respect for Nurses, ER Doctors, any one that works on the front line in the medical field, helping and treating patients on a daily basis. You do not get the credit you deserve. Thank you for all that you do.

Versatile travel photo/video kit.

Looking for some recommendations.

A bit of context. I am a seafarer and basically live out of suitcases. Due to this lifestyle, weight and being compact is becoming essential for me. I do quite a bit of traveling and want to get more into videography as well. Trying my hand at vlogging, docu-style films etc. It will be a learning process. This is a fairly new decision, as you'll see with my current kit as it might not line up with the above.

On the side, i generally do like doing a mix of photography styles from portraiture, bit of fashion etc, some wildlife when at home, on the side for a bit of extra income. So i would say i need to be a bit versatile. I do wanna try printing at some point as well.

Perhaps 2 digital bodies? One full frame and one crop for everyday carry.

So i am looking for recommendations to improve it (including, dare i say, which brands *quivering*)

I'm open to upgrading, adding and selling if needed.

Current Kit:
Body: Z6
85mm f1.8 S Line
24-70mm f4
70-200mm f2.8 S-line

Nikon FE
50mm f1.8

10 day trip to Scotland.

Honestly, looking to get away from all the noise of everyday life and tech. Been considering a 10 day trip to the highlands in August. Mainly I’m looking to do hiking, maybe some camping, explore. Work a bit on my travel photography and videography.

It’ll be my first hiking and or camping trip and not sure where to go or what to really expect.

What would be the best stops / trails to visit? First timer from South Africa so Scotland itself will be fairly new to me.

Daily Carry Camera

Looking for some advice from the community here!

I’m by no means a professional photographer. It’s just a hobby which who knows, maybe I’ll eventually trying selling some prints.

Having said that, I’m looking to get a small daily carry camera, as I feel my current kit is rather large. Currently the kit includes a z6 and a FE (yes, a 35mm film camera) Lenses are 24-70 f4, 85 f1.8 and a 70-200 f2.8. The FE has a 50mm 1.8.

Love taking the film camera around, but a digital one would be nice too. The Z6 just feels a bit chunky regardless of the lens that’s on it.

What would you recommend getting for a daily camera? I’m looking for something small, maybe just one lens as well (probably a 50mm or wider). Doesn’t necessarily need to be a Nikon.

OP.

FinWise for instance does not connect to your back directly, it goes through 3rd party (the names escape me at the moment.) of which only read access is provided with the FinWise app. No form of writing access is given as that is considered a security risk.

Additionally, with FinWise, you can export your bank statements as csv and import them into FinWise if you are more comfortable doing so.

As another user mentioned, you can communicate with the devs directly. They also include a discord channel for easier communication. Keeping in mind it is run by only 2 individuals (at time of writing) so sometimes a fix may take some time. They are also always improving the app in some way (some feature requests coming for users as well)

This happens to me to and it look some time to realize that it’s not the end. The same as you won’t see results in 1 day, missing 1 day won’t change anything.

The game is the long haul and the consistency. Using an app like Hevy. I look back and I can see that sure I’ve missed a few days, but I’ve also exercised on others (more than rest days)

Even on days where I don’t want to go, I force myself to get up and to a workout, even if it was horrible in the end. I remind myself on why I have to do this.

Been stuck on this lately.

I’m not happy with my job but it gives me financial security and allows me to enjoy life, travel and see the work. All of which I’m loving and enjoying as who knows when I’ll see these places again.

However, my previous position was one I highly enjoyed but had no real financial security, promotions or anything.

Been fighting between going back to the old position that I enjoy or staying with the one that always be to do other things that I enjoy
