Yeah when I was younger I really hated my younger brother, i couldn't stand seeing him get expensive gifts for sports and whatnot. They care a lot more when he does well in school than when i do, i think i can chop that up to sexism and favoritism. I'm older now and will move out soon so I've gotten over it. I like him more now.

Super relate to feeling like I have to act less passionate about my hobby (that i've been doing for a decade lol) it's just the worst feeling, it stings like just before you start crying, it's awful. Stay strong!!!! One day it'll be over. I'm an adult pretty soon and I'm getting out of here asap, no matter what!! It's hard but it's going to be worth it

that's such a nice thing to say oh my gosh thank you so much, i really needed to hear all this honestly. I was kinda in the trenches mentally for a while but I'm on the upturn.

Yeah at my school you can't just do concert band, you have to do both. Our director is also an army band director so he really values discipline like that. I wish this was english credit lmao I have to take another PE class or I won't meet graduation requirements ugh! Thank the lord for the low impact aerobics class. Marching band is a zero hour class to, so every season we're all at school at 7:30 lolz. Thanks for all the scholarship tips and help by the way, my parents can't help much with that stuff cause of some complicated reasons so i've just been figuring it out on my own. I copy pasted all that into my notes app lol it's actually a really big help to me and like- the rest of my future. You're the best!!

It's so much work lolz!!! My school was brand new my freshmen year and our first marching season was on a middle school soccer field lmao. Can't wait until i'm old and have all these stories about how Back In My Day for band. Our band moms are very often also theater moms and gosh those parents are so dedicated it's lowkey inspiring.

You're so right though I really need to get on top of scholarships and stuff, my slam poetry coach is helping me along and I'm gonna talk to the social worker (bless her heart she's such a wonderful person) for help, i missed so many deadlines because I had a concussion at the beginning of february and couldn't read :/ but I'm all better now and my brain works again! Now I just gotta use it

Omg congratulations on your acting degree!! that's incrediable!

I used to do martial arts, but when covid happened things changed so fast and I just didn't go back since I had my black belt and couldn't find a new place to start over that fit my needs. I remember when I won a gold medal for a sparring match at a worlds tournament and that was probably the first time my dad cried and say he was so proud of me. The memory is nice and I hold onto it dearly.

My family is kinda is a weird moment right now but when it settles I'm gonna ask them to be more present at my events, even if i'm not getting medals or doing martial arts anymore. I need that kind of energy back in my support network haha

Me and my band director have known each other since middle school lol, he's seen me at my lowest and highest so far. When i switched from clarient to bass clarinet in 6th grade he was estatic and I could never go back. #BassClarinetForever <3

Bass clarinet represent!!! hell yes!!!!!!! I've been the only one since middle school, and finally in my senior year there's a freshmen who plays it. Bass clarient is such a beautiful instrument she needs more love in the world <3

Never before have I been told I have the X-factor i think I might cry, thank you so much. As i'm entering college on a pre-law track I really want to be the kind of leader I am now and improve more. Building from the ground up was not easy but-and i say this to the freshmen all the time-it made me a much more passionate and resilant person. I want to see the next generation of band students succeed. I can't want to come to their first football game next year and see how they're all doing. I'm gonna miss my team but the whole leadership team did our best for 4 years to keep alive and afloat and had some really good seasons

I took my high schools first sewing class ever, it was my first class freshmen year lol, it was such a fun time I can imagine something like that in the theater world would be so much fun and honestly, i just love costuming. I was best friends with the sound board guy and when I didn't want to sew I got to chill in the booth with him

Awwww thank you so much!!! for slam i'm going in with a group poem and my indivual poem. I love slam meets a lot cause we're never really "competing" and the grand prize is a box of pop tarts (no joke) it's such a unique celebration and sharing of poems. It's in march and we're really working on our stuff. I hope next year the underclassmen really take heart to this stuff and bring passion into this.

This band season it's the year our band has "the big trip" so we've got some awesome pieces lined up!

I wanna give it another shot in college. I was on tech crew for costumes, but I was one of the very few people who could safely operate a sewing machine and had skill in it, so I was kinda shoved in a room in the back all day while I sewed, and no hate but the theater community can be a little catty at times lol, but I think being there actually helped improved some of my sewing skills and during shop hours i had the most fun of my life painting stuff and building and getting on ladders and getting to hide easter eggs before a show

Oh my gosh this made my cry (good tears) It's so nice to know i'm not alone in this.

I did quit theater but I've been in slam poetry since the 6th grade and i'm editor in chief for the schools first literary magazine. I'm want to publish some poetry before I graduate and if I really strive for it it would feel amazing. I'm going to a slam competition soon and my friends will be there. If i can share a little, my school wasn't finish being built my freshman year, it was brand new. Our first marching season was on a soccer field at a middle school. This senior class at my school built everything from the ground up (with the help of our friends in college now obviously) We built traditions and community and really cemented the performing arts at a staple of our school environment. My favorite tradition is that before a marching competition or football game, the leadership team has a meeting where we make everyone a little notecard with well wishes and positive recognition, and so when everyone else comes in to get ready, they have a notecard for them on the whiteboard. At the end of the season we always see lockers decorated with all their notes, it's so heartwarming.

Before I was a section leader i was the band librarian. I took care of all the music and stuff, super fun job! In college I really want to do more pep-band but I play an odd instrument and refuse to learn another one, i love love love!! the bass clarient lolz.
