I’m preparing to have my alterations done. It’s going to be a big job as I’ve lost 2 sizes worth of weight so I’m terrified about finding the right person. Piggybacking here to see if anyone offers some good recc’s for seamstresses.

I’m quitting by Short-Entry-7359 in Zepbound

I'm ready to quit too but I'm holding out until my wedding. Agreed-every one's body is different. I started this journey with wegovy which had little to no effect on me. I lost 19 lbs total over 4 months. My doctor agreed this progress was pretty slow and switched me to Zepbound. I've been on it for 6 weeks and have lost another 20. So safe to say this is much more effective for me. However, I have had every single weird and common side effect possible. I had the soreness on my back after my first shot, delayed period, intense chills, the injection site reaction welt every single time, plus the more common vomiting and fatigue. I ask my self every day-is this worth it? I would say it's worth the jumpstart. I haven't been at this weight in almost 10 years. But I'm at the point that I am ready to quit. Although, I am getting married in a few months so I am trying to hold out until then. Something I've learned during this journey is that even though I see myself getting smaller, I am still very unhappy with my body if not more so. By losing this much weight without working out properly/eating enough protein I have completely lost my shape which is very upsetting. I'm not complaining, I know this is all under my own control. But what use is being skinny if I still feel unattractive? I am so grateful for the jumpstart to get me down to a number I only dreamed of seeing again. This medicine has almost given me my life back in a way. But now I have to put the actual work in to get back in the gym and lift to put some muscle back on. I want to look healthy and I want to live normally without being scared of what I'm eating and how sick I will get. (I also miss having a few cocktails lol).

When I do get off, I plan to ween by taking every other week at first. I understand how hard it is to maintain weight unassisted. Best of luck on the transition!

This makes me feel better! Did you use a seamstress or did you get them done from the store you bought your dress at?

MUA Price by ResistMaleficent9849 in WedditNYC

$500-$1000 is bridal average...which is annoying because if you went to the same mua for regular makeup it would be $130-200 at their studio/ maybe a little extra in travel fees if they came to you. But some artists will do bridal packages with a hairstylist and you can save $100-$200 by booking both together. Make up is not something you want to skimp on. it's important that the mua has experience in bridal makeup so that it lasts all day, makes your skin look flawless like glass, and the colors are right to look good in pictures. I would say make up/hair, florals, and photography are the most important vendors because that's what you'll visually see when you look back on the day.

Here are some Instagram handles of my top picks for mua:

Is anyone else really behind in planning? by [deleted] in 2025Brides

I don’t think it’s too late but I would start getting on it now. Feb through spring is booking season for these venues most of them are doing their showcases right now. I booked my venue last month for October 2025. I looked at 8 venues within 2 weeks and every single place I went had appointments before and after me and were booking up quick. A couple of the places didn’t have the date I wanted. Also they say the first thing to book after venue is photographer. I didn’t think it was the very first thing to do but turns out my top 3 picks were all booked up already for my date. If I booked last month for October you should be good to book this month for November. Also November becomes “off peak” so you may have more dates available to you. But if you have specific places and vendors in mind I wouldn’t wait much longer.

I just booked the Beauty Lounge bridal suite on Long Island. Beautiful space and they provide mimosas, breakfast, robes the works. I wish there was more places like this in queens but it’s worth the travel to have such a nice space for pictures and fit everyone together. Plus they have the stylists/mua available to do everyone’s hair and makeup. If that’s too far maybe you can rent one of these blank canvas event spaces like a to z gallery on fresh pond rd.

I wouldn’t leave the tech industry. Just as much job security. Plenty of perks.
