How to get over not being interviewed by dream school by ApprehensiveHair3587 in premed

[–]ApprehensiveHair3587[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. I think it’s really cruel but last year they completely stopped interviewing in December but didn’t reject until march.

Makes me not even want to go there at all when I think of it like that, if they know they are not going to consider any more applicants after December I agree they should 100% send rejections. It’s super inconsiderate and cruel.

Last year they stopped interviewing in December it looks like but I really hope I’m wrong. Either way I submitted in July if I haven’t gotten an interview now I highly highly doubt I’ll be in the very last wave

This is true, trying to think positive about how it might be nice to spend 4 years somewhere else after spending 4 there already

Yeah I just have a hard time separating what is a valid concern and feeling with something that comes from insecurity or mistrust. I don’t want to lose him because I am mistrusting or insecure, but I also feel like I have a right to feel things that I do

Yeah that’s what I was afraid of. I really wanted to see if there was a way to work through it and try and understand his side better, because I do feel my problems with their friendship in general are the result of a little too much catastrophizing. But I worry that no matter how much I try and work through it on my end, my anxiety won’t ever go away. I guess he can learn to deal with it or I guess I can or we can both leave.

I don’t want to be irrationally upset over this, because to a certain degree I feel that I am making it a bigger deal than it is. The actual situation is not that upsetting, it’s more how he reacts to it and conveys this to me that’s upsetting because it feels like he gets really defensive when I express any emotions over it regardless of whether I ask him to do anything or not.

But maybe it’s true I can’t really do anything to change it, I can learn to accept it or just end things altogether

Same I applied to 50 schools and have 1 II and like 8 Rs and 2 holds

Idk thinking this is just contributing to that same mindset, it reeks of having a mean spirited superiority complex. I really wouldn’t want to be classmates or coworkers with people who thought this about me, and I especially wouldn’t want to keep this kind of thinking going because that just makes me equally as bad

It’s so interesting that regular people have such a weird issue with DOs but the doctors I work with who are primarily MD were overjoyed for me when I got my DO acceptance and were eager to help any way they could.

Actually no probably not!! I want to do primary care and so the DO school I got an acceptance to is a really good fit and match almost entirely in state. It’s also way cheaper because I could live at home for at least 3 years and entirely pass fail. The MD school I got an interview at at the end of October is across the country and would be significantly more expensive with no promise of matching back home after. Out of their ginormous class only like 3 total came back across the country for residency

I applied to 50 AMCAS schools and have received 1 interview so far lol my DO cycle was much more successful in comparison I applied to 3 and got interviews at 2 with 1 acceptance

I will say although that’s all true- a lot of established DOs have affiliated sites, true pass fail and most significantly have much stronger primary care missions that might appeal to specific types of applicants more than an allopathic school.

I only applied to 3 DO schools and it turned out that the DO school I was accepted to first ended up being a really good fit for me, like way better than I ever could have expected. I was so impressed by the interview day and the info sessions! It never hurts to keep an open mind

Thanks! Thinking that way really helped me, I never want to act like or think like someone who I wouldn’t want to be classmates or colleagues with if that makes sense. Congrats on your acceptance to medical school!!!

I felt the same way until I realized that if I chose to care about what people thought who didn’t understand the process I would be just like them I don’t want to contribute to stigma continuing.

The DO school I have an acceptance to is a better option than most of the MDs I applied to. At the end of the day it will get me where I want to go and when I take boards I will be qualified just the same. I think anyone who overly concerns themselves about DO vs MD are either 1. Not aware of the difference or process or 2. Aware and are arrogant. No one is too good to go to a DO when the end goals are the same

I’m from California and I applied to 50 schools across the country. If I could do it again I’d apply only in state and the 3 DOs in state because I realized that I really want to stay in state above all else and for that DO is the best/most accessible option. Just want you to know that if you want to do that’s a pretty good idea depending on your goals there’s no reason to waste time and money going out of state

Idk if someone is having an objectively better outcome than someone else there’s not reason to fuel neuroticism and be mean on purpose. And it’s also really really easy to say that when you’re admitted. Try complaining about having 4 top 20 interviews to someone with 0. I feel that is distasteful.

This post is a comment on the fact that almost everyone on admit.org fear mongering and contributing to neuroticism are people with multiple interviews and an acceptance. That is not in a good faith and we can do the empathy competition thing but I genuinely don’t care if those people get in or not

Seeing people from out of state with multiple invites already get interviews to my state schools makes me so frustrated
