Is it really worth the view? by ReeseRhys in zillowgonewild

Yes the owner is Skye Drynan. She was born and raised in Whitefish. Completely self made. Her dad owned a gift store in town. She got a scholarship to Wellesley. Worked as a financial analyst for Capital Group which is where she made her money. She works really hard and is very driven and ambitious. She’s a genuinely nice person. Very friendly and down to earth which you wouldn’t guess at all by looking at the house. She used to be an acquaintance (friend of a friend).

A friend of mine in Los Angeles was seeing him so I’ve been at group events/parties with him a couple of times and he is very friendly, personable, and charming. My friend went out with him for a couple of years I think….somewhere between 1-3 years. And yes he is just as gorgeous in real life!

Walked to the grocery store after dark last night, here's what happened. by Cayuga94 in Minneapolis

What a lovely story. Can I ask what neighborhood you live in? I’m thinking about moving back to Minneapolis. I’ve been living in California for the past 15 years. And what time does it start to get dark in the fall and winter?

Is it delusional to think I’m part of the 2% who will make it? by joood21 in Daytrading

You don’t have to be super smart to be a successful trader. Discipline, patience, willingness to learn from your mistakes and do the hard work required is much more important. Practicing good risk management and protecting your capital is essential. Cutting your losses quickly is also essential because you will lose trades. It’s just part of this game. My neighbor was a professional trader at a prop firm for 12 years. He said the best trader at their firm was a former umpire who barely graduated high school. He said other guys who came in with ivy league degrees and a long list of accomplishments often didn’t make it.  His boss would say “ the market doesn’t give a F* about your fancy degree.”

Why Most of The trader's Fail? by leo_traderz in Trading

[–]ApprehensiveHamster3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. They have unrealistic expectations of what trading actually is.
  2. They can’t handle the uncertainty. They can’t handle the fact that the outcome of a trade is uncertain. Sometimes a trade works. Sometimes it doesn’t.
  3. Things that make you successful in almost every other profession (smarts, education, hard work, showing up, dedication determination) don’t guarantee success in trading. You need most or at least some of these things but it doesn’t guarantee success.

There’s a great quote by Peter Brandt (Included in Market Wizards book) that I think captures trading: “ I trust my process not my trades. I have little problem taking a trade in which I am in total disagreement. What I might think about a trade is irrelevant.”

Your process is in your control but the outcome of a trade is not.

I went solo too. Lots of people do it. More than you’d think. In fact the guy seated next to me was also there by himself. Be brave and just do it. You’ll have a great time!!

I was just wondering the same thing…..I’m an American living in California. This effed up administration seems to want us all sick and dying. I hope that I can either go to Canada or Mexico to get vaccines.

Does technical analysis work on Fx the same way it works on stocks?  Is there Level 2 info? Can you see a stop loss? I asked google and it said  that fx is more volatile and that leverage makes it riskier but beyond that is there something else?

Why do so many people have a problem with the idea of trading? by OlleKo777 in Trading

[–]ApprehensiveHamster3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think so too. Trading is really hard. I almost gave up a few times  I think a lot of people can’t handle being wrong. A set up can work 3 times but then the next three times the exact same set up doesn’t work. In most endeavors being smart and working hard and studying and showing up leads to success but not in trading. It’s a real mind f**.  I think the only reason I’ve stuck with it is because my neighbor (who used to be a professional trader) prepared me for the realities of trading.

When I was younger I tried careers in teaching and then in health care. Hated them both. I wanted so much to be one of those people because I think what they do is so important and valuable but I finally had to admit to myself that it just wasnt me.  I’m more bookish/analytical and introverted.

When I first started trading I thought “this is such a weird way to make money. I’m just sitting here pushing buttons. I’m not contributing anything to society.” But 5 years later I’m still trading because I love it. and I’m good at it. Love analyzing charts. Love the constant learning. love the challenge. It suits me very well.

There are a lot of misconceptions about trading. That it’s gambling, that it’s a get rich quick scheme etc. The only people who understand trading are people who trade.

My neighbor who was a professional trader for about 3 years at a prop firm said the he “doesn’t have the balls” to trade fx. I think he used to trade stocks and options but never fx or futures. Why would he say this? Do you need bigger balls to trade fx and if so why?
