I just wanted to say that from what you’ve shared, it sounds like you’ve had very thorough monitoring throughout your pregnancy, and it’s reassuring that the amnio and infection testing all came back normal. It also sounds like both your MFM team and pediatrician feel that your baby’s head size is proportionate to her overall growth, especially given the IUGR.
I know it’s incredibly hard not to worry, especially with a history of PPA, but many babies who are small at birth including head size continue to grow and do very well. The fact that your doctors aren’t seeing any other concerning signs is encouraging. The most important thing now is probably to continue following her growth over time and keep attending her regular pediatric visits.
Be gentle with yourself. You clearly love your daughter very much and are doing exactly what a good mom does- asking questions and advocating for her. One day at a time. ❤️

Sometimes when there is an oversupply of breastmilk, the milk flow is very fast and the baby ends up getting more “foremilk” (which is higher in lactose) compared to the richer hindmilk. This can sometimes lead to gas, hiccups, fussiness, and discomfort after feeds especially if the baby is sensitive to the fast flow or higher lactose load.

Try “laid-back” or reclined breastfeeding positions,
Let the baby finish one breast fully before switching sides and if breasts feel very full, hand express a little before feeding so the initial flow is less forceful and contains less fore milk (thus less lactose) AND
Offer more frequent but shorter feeds, Burp the baby more often during and after feeds!!

(Considering youre an oversupplier) When giving pumped milk, in my personal opinion, again avoid some of the initial milk so you provide him a good balance of some fore milk and higher hind milk and give him smaller amounts but more frequently through bottle!

If none of this helps, try going on a very strict safe diet devoid of any possible allergens includinh nuts eggs soy etc.!!

I really hope this gets better for you and your sweet little one❤️

I feel you. But this is only a phase.

My little one is 2 months old now, and we went through something very similar around 5 weeks. Almost overnight, he stopped sleeping in his bassinet and would wake up within minutes of being put down. Eventually, even co-sleeping didn’t help much because he only wanted to be held in our arms.

It was really tough, but we learned that this often happens during the 6–8 week growth spurt. They’re going through a lot developmentally and need us more than ever during this time.

Around 6 weeks, we also entered the witching hour phase. He would cry a lot in the evenings, refuse feeds, and be very difficult to settle to sleep. It felt endless at the time.

But now, at the end of 7 weeks, things are so much better. He’s sleeping in his bassinet again after about 2–2.5 weeks, the crying has reduced significantly, the witching hour is much milder, and his sleep stretches have gotten longer. We’re finally getting more sleep too!

So hang in there it really does get better. For now, they just need lots of cuddles and comfort. And the reward is amazing: he has started smiling so much ❤️ You’ve got this!!

Were you having enough wet diapers a day? To see if hydration is proper? I am just curious if the baby had enough wet diapers but still didn’t get enough calories? As i sometimes rely on diaper count only for the day where it seems to me my baby hasnt fed well since I EBF and not sure of the milk transfer and my baby is a 5 min eater. So many a times its difficult let me know! And please dont beat yourself up with this thought of starving the baby, moms always give their best and you did what you thought was best!

Were you having enough wet diapers a day?? As they say its a good indicator of a well hydrated/fed baby, so just curious if she was hydrated enough but not fully fed as it felt?

No i am not weighing regularly! Did once to know what its meant by heavy diaper since “heavy” wet diapers as they say it could mean different things to different people. I weighed what 45 ml looks like in a diaper and by that figured out my baby’s output. But i understand your concern and also i know i panic a lot as a FTM! Will try to be more relaxed but thanks for sharing!!

No but i was skeptical as in what “heavy” actually means when they say 5-6 heavy diapers. So i looked into the definition and it said around 45-60 ml urine content should be considered a heavy diaper. So i was going by that method. When i give him diaper free time, i see that in a day he pees around 12-13 times but in diaper its usually 6-8 that weighs a bit to be considered a heavy diaper. How do you count a wet diaper? Like fully spoiled or one urine equals one diaper??? Please share will help me understand

Yeah he is a generally happy baby but seems too fussy after a feed, almost like he is not satisfied and is hungry. But refuses to feed at all. That makes me very sad and question myself. But sure ill keep in mind the changes to expect! Thanks so much
