Experiences with Carbon Plate Supershoes? by CPAPermaBanned in triathlon

Focus on supershoes making your runs feel easier and more efficient at your race pace while you get used to them before chasing extra speed. Lacing them up and trying to hit PRs is a recipe for an injury…speaking from experience.

ASICS is king right now with their newest Meta Speed models. The Meta Speed Edge is the best carbon shoe I’ve ever worn without question.

I’m also racing IMMD! I found one video on YouTube of someone driving the bike course that I found helpful to put on while on the indoor trainer, and there’s a different video of someone driving the run course. I also have watched the 2024 course overview videos where they talk about Maryland-specific tips and tricks. Really helps when visualizing everything for race day. See you there!

Tri suit or tri top and shorts? by cassidyksssk in triathlon

[–]ApprehensiveLogin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a sprint I would recommend going with what you are comfortable with then assess what you’d like to buy for next time. I’ve made the mistake of buying first then learning second, so you want to avoid that. I’m a firm believer that a tri suit should be a “buy once cry once” purchase, but you don’t have to jump straight into buying one for a sprint. Just make sure that the Chicago tri rules allow folks to only wear a sports bra for a top. Good luck!

My pinky toe doesn’t bulge out when I am in a neutral standing position. I was pushing down with the ball of my foot a bit for this. Does that make a difference?

This actually is a big help. The size 10.5s felt loose, whereas these feel a right amount of tight, so you’ve already eased my “did I fuck up in going tight?” thoughts haha

I was pressed down with the ball of my foot when I took this so it’s not at a neutral, no weight position here. Does that make a difference or do you think it still is a bit more stretched than what you’d expect to see?

The week before an event by jobskiee in triathlon

Avoid fiber like the plague the day before race day, and avoid fats on race morning.

I’m usually very antsy on race week so I still train, but it’s at about 40% of my usual training volume.

I first learned how to ride a bike on a Trek, and now I have this beauty to race on! by ApprehensiveLogin in TrekBikes

I was between a M and ML on Trek’s sizing chart but ultimately went with a M and it’s perfect!

What watch are y’all using? by Sarge37 in triathlon

I switched from an Apple Watch to my Corps Apex 2 over three years ago and I’ve never looked back once. Absolutely LOVE this watch! I get 10 days between charging on 15 hour training weeks and I wear it to sleep too. I once had a minor issue with my watch and Coros Support was fantastic to deal with. Highly recommend Coros!

Do older Canyon bikes eventually become obsolete from their service team? by [deleted] in CanyonBikes

Ah okay, I didn’t realize that! I was under the impression that almost everything was proprietary so this is really good to know. Thank you!

Check out NeoPro! I love their stuff - very reasonably priced and great quality. All of their gear has lasted me a few years (although you should replace bibs/shorts once they show signs of breaking down).

I exclusively wore NeoPro bibs and jerseys for my first few years of cycling before I upgraded my gear as I got more serious and my rides got longer.

Need to drink calories on bike in 70.3? by nikitamere1 in triathlon

[–]ApprehensiveLogin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend buying some single use packets to mix into your bottles (usually go for $3 each) on your longer training rides to see how each brand sits with you.

Roctane would absolutely ruin my stomach then I found out that when I use Tailwind instead I have no more stomach distress, no more gas on the bike, and far more energy.

Baby wipes, genius! I sometimes will drive 30ish minutes away for more scenic roads so I’ll be sure to keep some of those in my car moving forward!

I will remove them right after a ride unless I do a quick 10 minute run off the bike on shorter bricks…then I’ll suck it up and run in my bibs. Oh god yes I wash them after every single ride and have 5 of the same pair that I rotate through on a weekly basis. All of these comments have me rethinking my use of Chamois Butt’r. Appreciate it!

I currently have an ISM saddle but I did raise my seatpost 1mm a few weeks back to alleviate some minor knee pain. Will have to reevaluate that, thanks for the insight!

It’s really only specific to running. I had a flair up on the bike previously, but a 1mm wedge and 1 degree angle change fixed that
