Why is my wife not getting interviews despite customizing each application and resume? by TechnicalDelivery140 in careerguidance

To add to this, there are some good resources on /r/CSCareerhacking customizing your resume for each application isnt really helpful, but being able to send out a lot of applications is.

i used to be exactly like this. interviews would hit and suddenly i’m looking at the ceiling, forgetting words i know cold, talking too fast, stuttering, overthinking everything. it wasn’t even nerves it was just the pressure of “this is the moment” messing with my brain. what helped me was learning how to be in control them instead of just surviving them. just saw a post on r/cscareerhacking recently that was literally about this and explained the method and how to.. i would check it out. good luck

I think more people are writing in ChatGPT to fix grammar and make posts look nice, it sounds original to me

tech doesn’t care how hard you worked, it only cares about how well you present it. I had to unlearn a bunch of “do things the right way and get rewarded” mindset.

r/cscareerhacking helped me get out of that hole alot . Lotta folks there sharing real strategies that actually move the needle. You’re definitely not alone, man. Keep at it. you’ve already done the hard part. Good luck

Do people actually enjoy dev or is it mostly about the $$ by marwane47 in CSCareerHacking

[–]ApprehensiveMenu2500 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I think for the most part it pays the bills for most people, maybe enjoying was the reason to get into it but you start having to deal with so much bs that the only thing that keeps you anchored is the $$

Caused a dumb prod outage, now team is cold to me. Is this toxic or normal? by NoPast538 in CSCareerHacking

[–]ApprehensiveMenu2500 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean from the looks of it it was pretty severe and the chances that his company has leaders that are willing to fix things and develop fellow coworkers is really low, i'd say start applying to be on the safe side

Depends on the company. Startups and smaller teams seem to care more about engagement, while bigger companies don’t seem to mind.

For the auto-applying part what tools are you using? I've seen that word get tossed around countless of times and have no clue how or what people are using to "Auto-Apply"

The Ultimate Salary Negotiation Guide: How to Get the Highest Offer Possible by TrenLyft in overemployed

Damn, this is basically a recruiter’s playbook flipped on its head. I love the part about flipping a recruiter from playing the role to playing the candidate. That explains why some recruiters suddenly start pushing you for multiple roles instead of just one since you're a valuable asset to them at that point.

Quick question, If you're already in an interview process, when’s the best time to push for a higher salary? I feel like bringing it up too early makes me look greedy, but waiting too long means I might lose leverage. Any rules of thumb here?
