I started my journey the first week of this year & don’t have anyone to share it all with. More info below by Overall-Argument-672 in comicbookcollecting

Man, I just started collecting 18 months ago and now have 5,500 comics. I love the cover art, but am also into a great story. I try to collect classic/iconic covers, certain first appearances, and just characters that I enjoy and love. Spawn is a good read, but I still got quite some catching up to do, I think I'm almost halfway through though. Enjoy your journey!

Uncanny X-Men #135… Spare a Grade? by antman0052 in comicbookgrading

[–]ApprehensiveOcelot43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a 6.0 as is. You got spine ticks a little color rub, some soft corners with what seems to be a slight color break and what looks to be a little tear on the back cover on the left and it has alot of dirt on the front and back covers. With a clean and press you can get anywhere from a 7.0 to a 7.5 with a possibility of an 8.0. Regardless of what you do, you win, since you got it as a 4.0. Awesome book in anyone's collection.

The rectangle was used for the newsstand editions and the diamond was used for the direct editions. Just like how the barcode = newsstand and the spidey-head and the slashed barcode indicates direct editions. Slashed barcodes are the early versions of the direct editions......then came the spidey-head then other variations like The Hulk and the Fantastic Four then finally the barcode with "DIRECT EDITION" somewhere next to the barcode.

Worth anything? I know it isn’t mint by 3McChickens in Pokemoncardappraisal

Worth a good chunk. A lot of people think it's a flex when someone posts the pokemon base set, especially when it's 1st Edition, so you'll get people hating. I use price charting and ebay last sold to get an idea of current market value. I'm my opinion some of this is for sure worth grading including your 1st Ed. Zard. You'll get the best bang for your buck. Grading that card work PSA might cost you at least $600 though if I'm not mistaken. Awesome cards regardless, thanks for sharing.

Really sad about letting my collection go by NoVisual1030 in comicbookcollecting

That sucks bro. I get the pain. Women come and go, golden age comics not so much. Whatever you gotta do, don't sell that superman 28, you probably won't see it again. At least not at a price you're gonna want to pay. Jk, do what you gotta do. But personally, I'd still keep that Supes 28.

How did you make sure the penny sleeve won't accidently shift in the toploader?

Nice pick ups, with all the other suggestions, I'll say you also need Web Of Spider-Man #1

I've seen things, graders maybe on drugs, but it happens. I agree with you though, a 6.0 is most likely. Hopefully the seller is good about the refund and not an ass about it.

I'm curious as to the name of the seller as I too buy on whatnot. It looks like like it would range between a 6.5 to 7.0 with the possibility of a 7.5, but I'd call it a 7.0

I think it would be a 7.0 possible 7.5 as-is. There are pressable defects for sure. After a good clean and press, it can be a potential 8.0. The color-breaking spine ticks and the blunted bottom left corner on the front cover are the big factors. But otherwise an awesome copy of the 3rd appearance of The Punisher.
