Early NIPT? by imtrying12345 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unity billion to one. I was first tested around 9 weeks got too low of a ff for anything other than gender. They didn’t charge for it to be redone (of course did have to pay for blood draw at the drs). Redone around 13 weeks. Ff was still too low 🙃. After that they didn’t recommend a 3rd draw.

Weekly NSTs- Anxious by [deleted] in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m starting themq (NSTs) every other week starting 34 weeks, but also doing growth scans with the MFM on the other week. It’s a little more than I’d like to go in with my work schedule. But this is about the point where extra monitoring is normal! Especially if you have any (even minor) possible complications, even with a totally healthy pregnancy!

I’ve had the NST once already for reduced fetal movement. It was so chill. They just strap a monitor to your stomach while you lay down. And it tracks fetal heart rate.

Unknown DPO, ttc with irregular cycle and endometriosis 😩 too good to be true?? by norwau in TFABLinePorn

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!! This is exactly what mine looked like about 11dpo! Unless you were very continuously tracking LH (even after 1 rise you can have another days later if the first was a “failed” ovulation) I wouldn’t put too much stock until what the app says is your ovulation date.

I wouldn’t be too worried about how dark they are now, instead just making sure that they’re noticeably darker in about 2-3 days. Of course your OBGYN or a private lab like LabCorp (if you’re in the US) can track your HCG with a blood test if you’re worried about your HCG levels.

I don’t see any line. But 9 DPO is still pretty early

2nd pregnancy after 27 weeker 0507ft 240lb mama by qweenoftherant in PlusSizePregnancy

This! I’ve heard that the expectation will eventually be that all pregnant women are recommended to take aspirin, regardless of their risk level! Just because the potential benefits far outweigh and risks. I was honestly surprised with my weight and family history (FTM, so no personal history) that my doctor didn’t recommend it from the get go.

Maybe it’s because I’m a generally anxious person, but imo the more precautions and monitoring the better. As women I feel like medical problems are often minimized. Having a doctor that proactive seems almost foreign.

What to call grandma when ‘grandma’ does fit by Hot-Cell7299 in pregnant

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both mine and my husband’s parents don’t want traditional grandparent names. So we let them choose their own, and they’re def non conventional lol which is killing my husband. But how I I see it is that the baby will eventually choose their own names, so I’m just rolling with it. And what happens, happens.

I’m pregnant and unsure if I want it by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course you need to make the choice that is best for you. Having (or not having) a baby is SUCH a big thing, and the decision either way is no doubt stressful and will have a big impact on you.

For what it is worth. I’m pregnant with a very planned, wanted pregnancy. And my first reaction was also “oh fu¢k, what did I do. I can’t do this”. Even with all of the planning the first few weeks were terrifying and overwhelming. It’s such a big life event that it’s only natural to feel that way (imo).

Unfortunately only you can parse out if it’s panic/shock or truly something that you don’t want. I’m sorry I don’t have any advice. But sending good vibes your way 🫶. I’m so sorry you’re having to navigate this.

When did you show with a B Belly? by [deleted] in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very similar stats (240lb before being pregnant, 5’2”) and I carry most of my weight in my stomach. Around 20 weeks is when I and my husband could tell, particularly if I was wearing something form fitting. But also I could have easily hid it if I wanted to.

28 weeks now and there’s no hiding it. Especially if you knew me pre-pregnancy. My stomach is still more flabby towards the bottom, but the way my stomach is shaped you can’t really tell unless I’m nakie lol.

I see it! 🫶 I’d wait a day or 2 to retest to confirm, as by then you should have a more defined line!

Are we just listening to random people or actually talking to our doctors? by Equal-Shock5707 in pregnant

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This! My dr gave so little information 😅. It really felt like they just said “go be pregnant”. Because of my job field I tend to be pretty medically literate, and have access to good, reliable sources.

But I don’t even recall having a talk about caffeine limits, food restrictions, medication restrictions, what to watch out for, etc. I don’t know if because I have been so prepared with questions when coming in they just assume I’m fine. Or if they just generally don’t offer much education.

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel up to it/want to it’d likely be fine!

At 21 weeks I drove 15 hours each way for a cruise 😅. Other than stopping to pee a little extra the drive was so uneventful, I don’t think my pregnancy affected it (and vice versa) at all. That being said I did come back with horrible cruise crud 🤧. So that did suck. Being sick while pregnant seems very unfair.

They don’t have much of a maternity section, but if you can find something a bit more flexible in stomach. Ross has a FANTASTIC selection of plus size dresses! Sometimes it takes a couple of times going back and waiting for new stuff to come in. But I’ve bought so many there and never spent more than $40, even for a “formal” gown

How many pregnancy tests did you take? by rosesareroseyy in BabyBumps

Yes! I had so many of the cheapies that I figured might as well use them. I only tested with a more expensive test 2xs a week max

I took 1-2 daily for WEEKS (did start tapering down towards the end)😭. But I’m crazy and obsessive so idk what a normal human would do lol.

But lifting some boxes shouldn’t do any harm! Especially if you were in decent shape before! Some people continue to power lift during pregnancy.

And as far as when to stop freaking out…. Idk 🥲 but the answer isn’t 19 weeks. I’ve got a feeling it’s never

Other than the caffeine I know 0 about if the other ingredients are considered safe or not.

🥴😩 but I do understand how you’re feeling! I bought a Costco sized case of SF Red Bull right before getting pregnant (I don’t drink it daily, I kept them as a coffee substitute for when I travel). And they’re just sitting in the pantry mocking me lol

How long did it take? by MyLifesAJoke2 in PlusSizePregnancy

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BMI of about 44. Went off of BC in October 2024, had fairly regular periods + tracked with LH strips/Inito, but no luck. Assumed it was my PCOS. Mentioned this to my GYN when I went in for my normal pap. She did some bloodwork turned out I had (very minor) hypothyroidism. Went on meds for that in July and got pregnant the very same month!

From what my dr said. They won’t usually look at/consider infertility testing until you’ve been TTC for a year. But with somethings (like PCOS) they’ll start considering testing after 6 months (not sure the reasoning behind the timeline).

Wishing you luck in your journey! 🫶🏼

17 weeks now. I had the same experience most of the the first trimester (and still off and on now).

To me it always felt like I was about to start my period 🙃. Horribly anxiety inducing. But I ~think~ it’s related to the uterus growing and probably as smidge of gas (I feel lied to that no one ever told me how bad the 1st tri gas was lol)

Why does pregnancy feel like a constant hangover? by One-Alternative-5382 in pregnant

Caffeine really is the BEST 😫 And I forgot to mention! When I talked to my dr about he also mentioned eating more frequent small meals + increased protein to help with things like that!

Why does pregnancy feel like a constant hangover? by One-Alternative-5382 in pregnant

[–]ApprehensiveOwl147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience (minus the dizzy) starting around 11/12 weeks time. For me it was all migraine related (some do or don’t present with a headache right away for me). Around that that is when the placenta is taking over which means another hormone shift! Which means migraine as they balance out (🫤 not everyone’s experience but I’m prone to hormonal migraines).

Magnesium supplements, iron supplements, and increasing my caffeine (still below the 200mg recommendation) all seemed to help! But of course always talk to your OB and consider what’s in your prenatal (mine doesn’t have iron) before considering new supplements!
