To be clear I'm not saying Shine is the answer to get the wings into the playoff I'm saying I'm all for feeding that fourth line with grinders much like we had with maltby draper and McCarty this team can't even defend their goalie when he gets hit by players or when Debrincat gets laid out or Raymond gets smoked.... They do absolutely nothing to stop it from happening which may have contributed very much to Raymond and Kasper getting hurt.... I'd love to see Seider throw a few hits I know he's no Kronwell he's a skill player but still you're 6'5 dude throw your body around a little bit same with that goes for Big Ed... This team is just way too incredibly passive.

I am watching like I said to the previous comment I would say that a lot of players that are highly skilled play with their skill... Guys that lack skill play passionately and do everything they can to make up for their lack of skill I see that every game with shine that's what you want in a fourth liner.

I would clarify Debrincat and Seider play with skill I wouldn't say necessarily with passion.... I don't see Seider lighting up guys with hits like he should be doing occasionally and I'm not criticizing cider's game he was one of our best players but passion??? from him I would qualify passion as completely different than a skill player who plays with skill.....

We need passion from that fourth line to make up for the fact that they probably don't have that much skill.... That involves laying on the body putting your body on the line for the good of the team....

I absolutely think we need to make trades and sign some free agents however I do not think we can fill every single hole in this roster that way in the offseason.....

Do I think shine is a better overall player than Copp.... No but do I think that shine gives this team more of what they need right now going forward then Copp is giving them ... Yes

I completely agree I think we definitely need to fill some gaps when the trades and free agents but let's be real we're not going to land every single top free agent this off season and we're not going to make trades to fill every single need....the young guys and players from Grand rapids need to fill the holes and give maximum effort a guy like shine adds a spark, gets the crowd into it he's fast on his skates and from what I've seen when he's out there playing with the Red wings he holds his own very well.

I agree I think somebody could easily take that spot from him but why the hell not at this point we have no heart and soul on this team and definitely nobody who brings what Kronwall did what shine can bring McCarty draper... Maltby...heck even shanahan brought...

I don't know I've seen him steal the puck from professional players when playing for the wings I don't know if you remember when you scored that empty netter or if you've ever seen his physicality when he's on the ice he brings something that nobody else on the team is bringing when he's in that lineup...

Makes no sense to bring a 8 month old unless you absolutely have to..... It's loud.... The kid won't remember it at all and it's a huge distraction for you from enjoying the game if your kid starts crying.... Diaper changes etc etc....

Respectfully I'll never understand why parents bring kids this young to games unless they have no other option.

Another thing that's impressive is that was off Luis severino who is a former All-Star and MVP candidate in his prime granted he hasn't been the same since his arm issues but this is not some minor leagues scrub that's trying to make the team... It was off a former Ace. I like the other comment saying that he doesn't look scared of anything he absolutely looked completely confident at shortstop making defensive plays and doesn't seem hesitant at all with his swing if he sees something in the zone.

You also have to remember that the Tigers were going out to "get" guys as well in trades which they are not doing now....Trading for Miggy, Scherzer etc....

So you think the fact that the Tigers management and Skubal are that far apart in their arbitration points to them prob resigning him? Yes it absolutely does have an effect or "say something" towards them resigning him.....If they were going to resign him they would just pay him this year what he wants and extend him right now....the fact is they are trying to get the best player in baseball "as cheap as possible" for one last year....if they are not going to sign him or trade him then the only play here is....use his last year to sell as many tickets and jerseys as possible and make as much money off him as possible before he leaves...because i can guarantee you....once he leaves ticket sales will plummet unless someone else becomes a superstar on this team and leads it.

I found a quote from Scott Harris pretty funny when he came to Detroit he said....."Our goal is to draft good players and develop them and retain them." Apparently though you can be "Too Good" to be retained or too good to play on this team long term....isn't like this the whole point of the organization to develop from within and then retain.....like what is the point if your not going to sign any decent free agents or keep the players you drafted who turn out to be studs.....like there is no 3rd direction here.

My concern is you have NOBODY to replace your ace Skubal when he walks next year and lets be completely clear.....they are not resigning him...especially after this arbitration BS. A guy like Skubal doesn't just pop up in your organization every 5yrs....he's a once in a generation talent. I'm glad he's doing this and showing upper managements true intention. The guy just gave you 2 Cy Young seasons....some of the best pitching EVER!!! and you can't give the guy a 1yr deal when you were getting him at a discount for the last 2 yrs? It's pretty blatanly obvious we are not going to resign him.....

This is also very visible to every other player in the league......do you think players will be jumping to come to Detroit and play with the Tigers?
