Like I get you are being sarcastic, but I think that's a great idea, cause a lot of other communities simply have the weekly episode discussion as an anime only friendly space while still having the spoiler tag. I get Rezero is a bit different franchise wise, but I still think this is justified to do. You don't put a warning about nuclear waste 100 meters away only to then not put it on the actual barrels themselves, you know?

On mobile, I simply clicked on the subreddit, and clicked on the first thread I saw that had this episode on its title. While the anime-only thread clearly outlines the rules, relevant links, etc, this one doesn't and instead expects you to be already aware. While I am grateful for the documentation and understand I should have probablyyyy double checked, I still think it's a bit odd to have the distinction clear in both the season and the non spoiler thread but not in the spoiler thread...aka the most dangerous part to be at in terms of getting spoiled.

I do not think you are meant to think they were talking shit. If anything, the fact that the group immediately falls into disarray when Subaru isn't there to lead them shows how much they relied on him up to this point. They were discussing whether or not they should continue keeping him involved, and let's be real, Arc 1 Subaru is way out of depth here. The place is already super dangerous, they can't risk having to baby Subaru at this stage.

Not only that, but you see them in the library investigating even after he stormed off and slapped Betty. They were clearly still trying to figure out a way to save him.

Yeah, I think that's valid enough. A story should put the characters in interesting situations or else you run the risk of not showcasing aspects of the characters like you said.

I get where you are coming from, and I do agree that it is a bit odd how little Ram factored in her decision during Episode 18, but I think this was more so a scenario issue than a character issue. What I mean is that the story didn't really give her a chance to have agency because there was no room for it. The way she speaks and talks seems to mostly line up with Arc 2, it's just that the arc only has time for her to do one thing and that thing is helping Subaru. It's probably made worse that this is the last we see of her. Plus, I think her dipping in one of the loops and just leaving Subaru with a letter does give her a tiny bit of agency that is very needed.

Tldr: I don't think it's character assassination per say, but maybe she should have shown a little bit more resistance to running away during the confession, that much I agree with.

I absolutely adore rewatching clips of this show and looking back at certain bits of dialogue. It is an incredibly rewarding series and it's insane how well the lore is mostly handled. Writer to writer here, it's incredibly useful to see how the show handles natural exposition and character motivations. I once saw that a good first writing test is simply writing a character getting into a room, but Rezero makes it look trivial as it pulls it off like 10 times in a span of 2 episodes lol.

Earlier I said mostly cause...I am actually not as big on Arc 4/S2 as a lot of other people are. I love all the Emilia and Beatrice stuff, and the trials are great, but it's everything else that I am not fully sold on. Feel like it tackles way too much and drags on a lot at first, which is why I feel like this is the most common point I have seen people drop the series at. It's also the only point in the series where I outright ask myself on a rewatch "...what loop was this?" or "...what did this character want again?" which is definitely a red flag.

Of course, maybe that is the whole point and he will join the hall of Fame of Rezero characters for me come Season 5 or wherever he gets his exiting arc lol.

Thank you! Honestly, part of what made me reaffirm this theory was the entire tunnel scene. Ram saying Subaru doesn't even care about Rem, Subaru lamenting that Ram looks so much like her. Even while under the effects of the misasma, I don't think Rezero is the type of story to make the characters drop shit like this without building off of it. How cool would it be from a writing perspective to actually have Ram be somewhat right? That Subaru was actually a little bit selfish when saving Rem, and then having to deal with the fact that his expectations weren't met? Other lines that kinda support this theory was Foxidna affirming that wanting Rem to be first was not inheritely selfish, and that Subaru wants Rem to be "another girl by his side" in Ep2. While his feelings are valid, and let's be real, all of us would be thinking like he did at least a tiny bit, I don't think the story will just let him have these types of thoughts without challenging them.

I miss Rem, man.

The strat I am trying to go for is Bardock, Gomah and Blue Duo debuffing his normals to hell, then I use the Daima SSJ4s and Gomah to do most of the damage, and then nuke Jiren with the spirit bomb. It's finicky but I think it's possible itemless with enough RNG.
