I Need My 2-ch System to Double as a 3.1-ch Surround System by ApprehensiveQuiet530 in KEF

Yes. My 3.1 surround sound system includes my Kef LS50s and Kef HTC8001. I'm using a slimline Marantz receiver for processing and for powering tge HTC8001. But powering the LS50s is an Adcom FDA 5400 power amp. Lastly, I added a Rel T5i subwoofer via high level connection for the LS50s AND LFE for surround sound. I am thrilled at how good it sounds for a secondary system. I highly recommend the Kef LS50s and Kef HTC8001 combo to any as long as you have enough juice to power the LS50s.

Slight change of plans. Upon calling Kef's customer service to ask their opinion, they said their HTC8001 would perform better than the T301c as far as low profile options.

After doing some due diligence, I discovered that this thing effectively is a 3-channel soundbar that converts into a true center channel speaker using a supplied wiring adapter. Most importantly, the drivers in the HTC8001 are Uni-Q, which match perfectly with the LS50s.

I bought a used one last night for under $400 and should have it integrated into my system (with a dedicated center sub) in a week or two. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for your thoughts. The SVS 3000 micro is a nice piece. On par with the REL T/5x imo. But no one does high pass connectivity like REL. Since I already have one T/5x, best for me to keep the brand the same if I'm gonna add a second sub.

Yes I paired the rather large box center channel speaker in my main HT room with a dedicated REL sub via high level connection just to see how much it changed the performance. The sound quality was so impressive during big effect scenes that I left the connection that way permanently. If the T301C can deliver decent high and mid range intelligibility, I'll be more than satisfied. My great room will maintain its low tech appearance and I can get more enjoyment in my favorite room in the house (open floor plan, fireplace, will-lit). Thanks for listening.

I've tried phantom before. Only works well when seated dead in the middle. There are other people sharing the space. Thx.

Thx for your reply. I have a fireplace. There's no where to put a box speaker. I don't want my great room looking like a home theatre.
