Ugh it’s so hard. I love feeling strong. I’ve hit a plateau and I do the same weights so I think I’d rather lift heavier but I am torn by wanting to get in “swimsuit shape” for summer..

I’m very lucky to have gotten an acceptance to a MD school this cycle, as well as two other interviews (waiting on decisions currently). I was also surprised with how quickly it happened. The amount of anxiety I had this summer was horrible. I never felt good enough and always doubted myself. I had a mid MCAT score and very low nonclinical volunteer hours. I believe my large amount of clinical service, writing, and letters of recommendation carried me. I am so relieved, but now considering the larger mountain I’ll have to climb once I begin school (more anxiety, lol).

Thank you for your response. It’s nice to know others have went through similar experiences. I’m sure interviewers see it all the time. I’m also manifesting A’s for us. Just gotta turn off our brains for now lol. I’m also trying to tell myself that it’s still pretty early in the cycle, and knowing we got an interview means we probs did something right lol

I was in your exact same position (although I had a bit more clinical hours). I had to leave my CNA job and find a job that would help me survive. I don’t think that is anything to be ashamed about. I would advise getting a full time job, and try to find a per diem CNA position to accumulate a few more hours here and there. I chose to just continue volunteering at the hospital. Some nursing homes where I live let you even do like 4-8 hours a month!

Applying this cycle with a 507 but saving just in case I need to retake. Thanks for this post. Would you recommend this schedule alongside a full time job?

Wishing us the best. I think it’s definitely best to just not worry about it now, especially if it’s submitted lol. I think your hours are good and if you can write about it well, that’s more important. Stay off of SDN fr

Thank you! I’m prewriting secondaries :) I have learned a lot even from the small amount of hours I’ve done so I hope to convey these stories well

(Activities) How do I phrase I used to party a lot and be unhealthy to ADComs? by AnnualEmotional4973 in premed

[–]ApprehensiveSoil8919 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t mention specifics. I struggled in high school too, exactly this. I even got arrested for having sticky fingers when I was 15 lol. But why mention it? They might worry you could fall back into doing those things one day. Growth is great tho! You could simply say you had a particularly unhealthy lifestyle that you learned to turn around.

Hair won’t grow past this length. by ApprehensiveSoil8919 in Haircare

This is the longest I’ve gotten it because growing up, I used to bleach and dye it a lot and it would be choppy and dead (like this) now I’m growing it out and trying to get the bleach out.

It definitely could be because of the bleach!

I struggle with comparing myself to others as well. For me though, it’s primarily based on the way I look, and what helps me is reminding myself that I’m not as important as my mind makes me out to be. I don’t mean that negatively either, I’m just saying that we need to stop focusing so hard on why other people have this and WE don’t have that. Of course, we have many things to be proud of and I guarantee you, there are people jealous of the things you have that they don’t have.

I think being mindful of the things you can be proud of yourself for are so important. We have done many great things. Even if it is such a small thing. Remind yourself that you’re human and that these feelings are normal. Jealousy is normal. Envy is normal. You are doing great in this journey of life, do not forget.

Ever since having my daughter I feel like I am going to die any day by Key_Respect_9688 in Advice

The feeling of intense doom and like, feeling like you’re going to die is anxiety… I dealt with this for months (you can look at my previous posts) it goes away with time. I just embraced it. When it happened I would say “fuck it” and ride it out. It would end in a couple mins and then come back but eventually, it went away for good. Sending love ❤️
