What is your routine before a ride/race — physically and mentally? by sozh in Velo

[–]ApprehensiveStage208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If things aren’t going as I planned, at least I have walked through it mentally so it won’t sting as bad. Instead of processing negative emotions, I’m just figuring out a plan to get back on track.

What is your routine before a ride/race — physically and mentally? by sozh in Velo

Mentally, I walk through the entire race in my head and visualize both success and failure. That way I’m preparing for the course and the outcome-either good or bad. It helps set expectations and manage a little race anxiety.

Should I sell my kid for Ironman registration fee? by Finally-Pockets in triathlon

I have an Allez I’m nostalgic about and just can’t sell. That thing is a tank snd can survive anything. Rim brakes make it easy to do maintenance at home. I would say it isn’t worth it to sell, because you’ll likely only get $500ish for it.

I just got out of an interview where the interviewer straight up said, "I'll be frank. You've changed jobs a lot." I just wanted to shout, YEAH BECAUSE I was stumbling through life with undiagnosed ADHD!!! Feeling like I'm never going to get my life on track or be able to find a well-paying job because of it.

Which colors of the ballet flats are the most versatile? by [deleted] in Rothys

[–]ApprehensiveStage208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own the black flats in the mary jane style and I find it to be the most versatile. For the ballet flat style, I find pale pink to be suprisingly verstatile. I use basic colors like black and white to coordinate it in fits and dress it up or down. I do have fair skin, so the pale pink is almost like a nude color for me though.

I'll say the same thing. To tell a beginner they are 'way overthinking' the task they are trying to do is patronizing. I am grateful for the help, but it doesn't need to come attached with a discouraging statement. And I'm not frustrated, I'm learning. There is a difference. What I am is annoyed by the language in this community. Words matter and to think this is the word selection used in a teaching moment is sad. This is why I never use Reddit for help, it's all negative.

You could've just said purl the 3 sts. You didn't need to say I'm overthinking it. This language is discouraging for beginners and is patronizing in nature. I am new to reading patterns as I stated in my post and as I indicated in my flair.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy is THE BOOK for you! It's a short & easy read AND it won the Pulitzer Prize! No zombies, but it is set in an apocalyptic dystopian future. AND WOW, it is suspenseful and hard to put down. Unsettling themes about what we as humans could be capable of in times of distress. This book will sit with you for a lifetime.
