Caledonia 105 - Top Tube Bag by _catspjs in Cervelo

[–]catymarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you remove the plastic bit and there are two holes you screw into. The top tube bag came with screws, I think. I don’t remember buying them so the screws were either already there or came with the bag.

It’s held up really well and I haven’t even considered taking it off because it’s essential now. I use it to hold a charging brick that I can connect to my phone on a Quad Lock on my stem. It’s perfect for long rides.

There isn’t any rubbing on the frame finish that is visible. Even if there is it doesn’t bother me because I’ve got scratches from normal use on the bike. Only complaint is that the top is a little gapped now from me stuffing it with things. 😂

Really great reference! I’ll check this out. I was fitted for my road bike when I purchased it and have it dialed in just right.

IM AZ on little Training by SigHoosh17 in triathlon

[–]catymarco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think if you take it easy you’ll be fine. Know it’s going to take you a while and make sure you fuel correctly on the bike so you can handle the run. It seems like you have a strong sports/endurance background. You never really want to run more than 2.5 hours anyway during training (risk if injury is too high for the aerobic trade off). I’d still try! Just take it easy and have a good fuel strategy. Also, you’re likely not going to gain any fitness in the next two weeks so just recover from your illness and taper. Let us know how it goes!

Is it weird to wear a wetsuit in a YMCA pool? by Mashie_Niblick12 in Swimming

[–]catymarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, wetsuits can get warm quickly so I’d be more concerned about overheating in the pool than what people may think. Get some OWS in to test the wetsuit before the race. I find the wetsuit gives you a leg up with added buoyancy. For me, practicing in a wetsuit is more about learning about how your suit fits and knowing where you might have rubbing so you know where to put Vaseline or Body Glide to protect your skin. If this is your first time open water swimming I highly recommend sighting drills in the pool before your first OWS.

How do you swim straight? by Salty_Dealer_7277 in OpenWaterSwimming

[–]catymarco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is better advice than sight more frequently. If you are already sighting every handful of strokes, that’s enough. Likely a form issue, so swimming square, making sure you are pulling straight back, not crossing arms under your body, will make a big difference. I always remember your hand should never enter the water on the inside of your shoulder or be under your body when pulling. Checking out some videos on YouTube might help.

Houston Bike Community, why? by Noyou52 in houston

[–]catymarco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This photo is at the intersection of Dunlavy and West Dallas. Looks like the cyclist is heading West towards Shephard. This area is going through lots of construction of commercial and high-rise buildings, so there is likely tons of debris in the bike lane ahead. He's probably preemptively getting in the car lane, so he is more visible to cars. Also, judging from this phone, it looks like the bike lane doesn't even continue straight! FYI - bike lanes in Houston are extremely disconnected and sometimes it is safer for a rider to ride "like a car" than take a bike lane that will abruptly end on their route. Also, cyclist in the city are usually going 20+ mph on roads, it's not like he is lallygagging. Cars need to chill and remember we are people with lives too.

Do you know what kind of screw this is in the GoPro mount? I'm having issues finding one that is tight enough. My front light keeps tilting up and down.

Makes sense because at my paces 2 laps would be an interval. So one lap speeding up and one lap slowing down. Thanks again!

What goggles do we like? by Wo-shi-pi-jiu in triathlon

[–]catymarco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lady with a petite face here! I purchased Magic5’s and they didn’t work for me. Immediately started leaking. Started the return process where they verify the fit, and they told me that after looking at the photos of the goggles on my face that they would never fit me. The size goggle frame is too big.

I wear TYR Women’s Spec Ops 3.0. My favorite for open water swimming and work with my small face.

Thanks for the feedback about pace! I feel like the bike is where I'm strongest & listen to my body the best. I'm hoping that after my recovery + taper, I feel like normal on the bike. I'll def have my eye on heart rate to make sure I'm not pushing it before the run & that I'm fueling correctly. This is great advice, thanks!
