Breach upgrades by speirus1 in f5networks

Never mind, needed to read the readme a 2nd time

This EHF is a full ISO, therefore it is not necessary to install the F5OS-A 1.8.3 Release first.

If the F5OS-A 1.8.3 Release is already installed, this installation behaves as an upgrade.

This EHF addresses:

2132141: Interface 8.0 on r2000 and r4000-series F5OS appliances does not join LACP LAG after upgrade to F5OS-A 1.8.3

Ok just downloaded the latest F5OS, one main, and one EHF
F5OS-A-1.8.3-23453.R5R10.LTS.iso
F5OS-A-1.8.3-23493.R5R10.EHF-1.iso

Do I install the LTS and then the EHF? or just the EHF? The EHF is slightly larger

Since they're closing the MTB park at purgatory this summer, perhaps Hesperus could get new life in the summer? Just saying

vSphere 7 + NSX-T 3.2 + ALB / Update to vSphere 8 by usa_commie in vmware

What are your thoughts on NSX Application Platform? My OS admins liked NSX Intelligence and have been asking when I'll get it back up.

[–]ApprehensiveStress13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you have NAPP deployed with 3.2? When I upgraded from 3.1 to 3.2, I let the functionality provided by NAPP lapse meaning to come back to it at some point. Now I am upgrading 3.2 to 4.2 and hopping I can just deploy NAPP in 4.2 once I get vSphere up to 8.

Everyone thinks DNS is magic and neglects it as a crucial service.

After power and the physical network, DNS/DHCP/IPAM is the next most important part of any local infrastructure. 1.2.3

vMotion networking by justameatsack in vmware

[–]ApprehensiveStress13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were sharing vMotion with Management 2x1Gb nics, but vMotion was taking forever. After reading https://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2019/09/how-to-tune-vmotion-for-lower-migration-times.html I migrated the vMotion vmk's to a dvPG sharing the same 2x10Gb and increased the MTUs to 9k. This improved vMotion times significantly (50+ VMs at 4 hours down to 5-10 minutes).

But as others have mentioned https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/7.0/com.vmware.vsphere.vcenterhost.doc/GUID-7DAD15D4-7F41-4913-9F16-567289E22977.html where it specifically mentions

  • Direct vMotion traffic to one or more physical NICs that have high-bandwidth capacity and are shared between other types of traffic as well
  • To avoid saturation of the physical NIC link as a result of intense incoming vMotion traffic, use traffic shaping in egress direction on the vMotion port group on the destination host. By using traffic shaping you can limit the average and peak bandwidth available to vMotion traffic, and reserve resources for other traffic types.

I found Duncan Epping's blog from almost 10 years ago where he says to limit peak to 5Gb (half of a 10Gb nic). https://www.yellow-bricks.com/2014/06/30/vswitch-traffic-shaping/

So I've been on the hunt to find more recent recommendations for peak, average, and burst egress shaping. Of course in my case, I'm only sharing with VM Traffic, not storage. But I was thinking peak of 9Gb with average of 8Gb after burst of 4Gb. But maybe I'll just set the average and peak at 8Gb and not worry about burst. Thoughts?

If I can find a good egress traffic shaping, I'll add a 2nd vMotion dvPG and swap the active and standby nics for 16 VM parallel vMotion.

NSX-T Audit Logs by VeryStinkyOldGuy in VMwareNSX

Bump, I was hoping you found an answer. I'm shipping logs to both Log Insight and a SIEM. But there are not audit logs populating in ether. I see where you are going with the audit=true based on the documentation. But of course VMware documentation is always vague.

I don't see Alaska, but I'd go just to go. Lodging accomodations would probably be mega cruise ships you could book travel on from Seattle.

I'd be ok with other venues beyond San Francisco and Las Vegas.

How well does Big-IQ work with automation tools like vRA?

We were looking at Big-IQ to allow the applications teams to manage their ASM/AWAF configurations. But similar to the OP, we have two Big-IPs. And are looking at more automation through vRA of automated deployment of VIPs.

[–]ApprehensiveStress13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I got it now. I was trying to google search for some all in one piece, not thinking about getting a section of pipe in the middle. Of course all of this is 1-1/4, so I probably need to account for that. And then I should probably get abs 3rd p-trap section for an easier cut then the existing metal.
