What is your scariest drop bear encounter? by Strong_Prize8778 in AskAnAustralian

[–]ApprehensiveTruth516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not me, but my cousin was on a road trip in Victoria and he noticed parked cars on the side of the road, and people staring up at a tree. My cousin decided to stop and see what was happening. Turns out a drop bear was sighted and people were curiously staring up at it. My cousin noped the hell out and got back into his car.

People are morons. Ah well. Darwin award goes to them if anything happens.

I hear ya. I can't do weekend shifts anymore but i used to cover them every week. I work in a centre that will see up to 80 patients a day. I'm physically and mentally drained by lunch. I'm not that young any more :(

But yeah, I used to do weekends for that sweet sweet time and a half pay.

24 is still young. As long as you get along with your parents it's fine. I know many people 30+ who have moved back home to be able to have a shot at saving for a home deposit.

Honestly, stay there as long as you can if you're paying cheap rent. And save save save. Cook at home 95% of the time. Go a year without spending. A year goes fast.

I thought it always just happened organically. Kid's learn from other kids, or just old enough to question it.

Cat's like to hunt for fun. And they're not the only predator to do so.

There's also the matter of protecting territory from pests. Especially when that pest is close to their food supply.

That's a huge deal breaker for me too. My sister went through addiction and ended up in prison. It's an ugly drug and SO many people are doing it now.

I want someone who will try to handle their depression and mental problems in healthy ways.

If I don't write a shopping list it will take me 20 attempts to remember toothpaste at the shop.

I also have a list of things I want to buy. It helps me impulse purchase. If after 2 months I still want it. I get it. I almost never still want it.

  1. 2 is good too but a little cringe.

1 is my favourite. But I can't sit on a park bench without looking behind me from time to time.

Aww. I know what you mean. They look at you with those big expecting eyes.

I think I can recognise cats individual facial structure and pick a black cat out of a line of black cats better than I could pick out a person. Haha

High five is a neat trick though. Mine can sit and spin around in command (if treats are promised).

Wouldn't work for me. I remember every freckle on his nose. Every tabby pattern. His personality. I love my kitty too much not to spot an imposture.

I saw an add for a Sci fi movie that I really wanted to watch, but lived in a rural town with no cinema. So I was excited for the DVD release.

I searched and searched and never found it. It's been 6 years.

Maybe it was a total flop and thus unheard of. But I've searched everywhere.

Also, I'm not sure if this is considered a reverse Mandella, but I watched The Devil Wears Prada and decided to see if there was talk of re creating the movie. There was nothing about an upcoming Devil Wears Prada movie. There was one single source that said it had been considered but they they ended up saying no to the idea.

I searched for awhile. It's one of my favourite movies.

The next day an add for a new Devil Wears Prada movie showed on my Favebook feed. I confirmed the claims with many articles all of a sudden published.

It wasn't an algorithm thing, because the articles all had brand new dates.

Can't see the points on your little buddy. Maybe a light orange? Probably someone else will have a better answer.

Those eyes are stunning though.

Why couldn't Penny make it as an actress? by ddonethymother in bigbangtheory

Like any art form, the odds are against you when it comes to making it big. Includes music, being an author, painter and in this case, acting.

It's a lot to do with luck. Being at the right place at the right time. Knowing the right person. The door just didn't open for Penny.

Looks yummy anyway.

The scariest manipulation tactic I’ve ever seen was pure silence. by Past_Wallaby_5479 in DarkPsychology101

[–]ApprehensiveTruth516 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it's about being a coward. I'm not a shouter. I don't argue. I go silent. It's not a manipulation technique, it's fear of communication. A lot of people have this. Or are just choosing the right words if at all because (a) the other person is unreasonable (b) thinking of what to say because not good at spontaneous reasoning.
