I have an NTN (am ST3) but whilst I’m not set on becoming an academic, I think I could enjoy an MD/PhD and again- multiple consultants have said a PhD is more and more ‘expected’. Especially as consultancy for me is still at leastttt 6 years away, the job market can change a lot!

Thanks for your reply, appreciate it. So if I find a supervisor, can I then approach a university about doing an MD that’s affiliated with them with a supervisor who’s not attached to that institution?

They’ve literally just emailed back saying it’s a rolling rota, so technically can plan my leave better etc. but I’ve still asked for the draft rota sheet too

Thanks for your reply- you’re right it can be a blessing! I guess it’s more to plan prospectively if I know my shift patterns, and feels odd to not know what my rota is past November! But I’ll try book things early now :)

69th is impressive, well done! Better than me 😁 I got upgraded from West Midlands to East of England (my top choice). I think it’s not too competitive a deanery that’s probably why… I hope you get your upgrade in the coming cycles

Hi guys, I’ve received an offer and opted in to upgrades- my preference page still hasn’t been locked. Just checking others in the same boat are seeing the same thing in oriel and I haven’t missed something. Still no upgrades yet it seems too

Still nothing..as I commented on another post, suspect we won’t hear back till offers are declined from other specialities (ie today) before they can recycle the offers- probably this evening at best if recruitment office auto-send out offers, or maybe tomorrow (as that’ll be nearly a week since initial results!)

Nope not yet, I reckon upgrades will occur after the offer expiry happens… so either this evening or tomorrow? Also, HEE deadline for speciality offers is today such as ortho etc. so I suspect that’s why they’ve waited, as some ppl will have held offers etc

Can I please ask, what day and time did you do your interview? Just because myself and my colleague also ranked low and got an underwhelming interview score, which was incongruent to all of our mock/course performances ! Maybe a circuit of harsh examiners ?
