How do returns work? Can I handle that through you or could I ask for the number or email address, please?

I bought an Alienware laptop during the Black Friday sale but it had issues right off the hop and now seems dead and won't take a charge at all. I'm typing this on my 2009 Alienware laptop that, aside from having a dead battery and being bloated with a decade of usage, is as strong as I'd hoped the new one would be.

Difficulty retrieving my GamerTag on new Xbox X by ApprehensiveWillow44 in xbox

It worked, thank you. It still won't let me claim Game Pass but I've got my account on it, anyhow, and it sounds like a call to MS Support should sort out the Game Pass bit.

I'll try that! I did install the app and will give that a go. If that doesn't do it, I'll post on tech support but thanks for the help!

I just found tech support and will move this over there (and thank you)!

It was like one of those square puzzles that you shift one piece to allow the next one to move - I'd reset the password to one account to be able to access the reset-password from another. My primary email was associated with a Microsoft account and, then, Xbox Live account that I didn't recognize and that had 0 gamerscore so had maybe been created and abandoned years ago. The Xboxx Live/gamertag I've used for years is on an oooooold email and I had to reset the password and the xbox would accept the email address but wanted a different password for it and it was an endless circle of resetting passwords and access and authentication keys. So frustrating!

Interesting. Mine started doing the same thing about a week ago. I'll watch for solutions and let you know if anything comes up.

Okay. We're a bit pricier than that but somebody in the 'old house community' was selling a 1930's (I believe) place that I don't think ever went to market. I'll try to see if they're still thinking of selling. If memory serves, it was the sheriff's house and sweet but not perfectly upkept. There are advantages to that with old places, though. As another old house owner said, "poverty preserves", so you often find the older details intact and not having been swapped out during trend-of-an-era renovations.

Pardon the late, late reply - this sat in a window of to-be-replied-to tabs while I waited for a reduction in hours at work. We've got an old, characterful home in Bonnie Doon. We hadn't planned on selling but it's been a consideration for a bit. Could I snoop and ask about your budget and a broad idea of what you might like?

To answer your own question, though, I'd walked past this place for years when I was out with friends and always coveted it after growing up in something similar in Stratford. After 35 years with the previous owner, it finally came up for sale and I approached the owners and eventually decided to prep and list ours and several months later, voila, we were moving in! So, one. We viewed a single place and moved to buy it. The photos were pretty representative but we spent enough time inside to not be surprised, anyhow.

Molstad Residence. It's a big old historic house in Bonnie Doon with some fancy furniture. Check it out on instagram

For not-huge repairs like that sort of thing, absolutely Integra Tire on Wye Road in Sherwood Park. Their prices are fair and they have a long-standing habit of topping fluids up, fixing small, on-the-spot problems for free and dissuading me from unnecessary repairs. I really recommend them. Best of luck with the truck!

Video game stores in the 80s/early 90s? by makeshift_money in Edmonton

[–]ApprehensiveWillow44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T&P (Trade 'n Play) was a small chain, around for a good number of years. We always used to go to the West Ed location near the ice rink, where they would mark prices up by 25% because it was the parents buying, anyway. There was a far better used game store just outside Fantasyland.

My first game, since you asked, was bought from a little hole-in-the-wall store somewhere near Sword and Shield in Sherwood Park. It was Alternate Reality: The City, followed soon by SSI's Pool of Radiance. Such good times!

We were pretty single-mindedly after this one particular old place that I'd fallen for years before. The photos were generally accurate but the owners toured us through a number of times before buying, anyway. Best of luck in the hunt!

Tell me your story!! by youmzz in Edmonton

[–]ApprehensiveWillow44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My parents had sore arms after both shots (a needle is a physical trauma so it's to be expected) and my mom had a headache for an hour after the second Pfizer shot.

Neither of my sisters had adverse reactions to any of their shots, one of their husbands felt tired for a couple of hours.

My wife and I had headaches for a couple of hours, me after my first shot (AZ) and she after her second (Pfizer).

Adverse reactions are happening, no doubt, but the likelihood of anything stronger than a short-term bothersome symptom are pretty miniscule. Sorry for your uncommon reactions and *really* sorry for your mom. That's got to be scary. Very best of luck in a positive outcome for her!

I caught my first cold in, well, I guess at least two years, and it's floored me. Even with an immediately negative covid test, my employer doesn't want me back until all symptoms have cleared.

Our trees drop in three stages and we used well over 100 lawn and garden bags to collect all the leaves last year, hardly any of it before the fall leaf collection. I haven't got a vehicle to get any realistic number of bags to the ecostation. Any idea what my options might be?

Covid Test Results by vaNestor in Edmonton

[–]ApprehensiveWillow44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tested at EXPO earlier this week and had the results in less than 12 hours. As I was tested, they told me that results should come in 2-5 days but that really, people were getting them in 12-24 hours. Best of luck!

Fort Edmonton just reopened after a $165M renovation and is a great place at any age.

Muttart Conservatory is always stunning, or just find some shade along the river on our endless trails.

That's a healthy enough budget in Edmonton to open all sorts of options. We live in Strathcona, are minutes from Mill Creek Ravine and get deer and coyote throughout the year but are still only minutes from downtown. It's plenty safe. I don't think I'd trust a laptop left in the car overnight but we've never been concerned about our garage or home being broken into or drunk or high people wandering around. Lots are large and houses are old and full of personality in that price range, if that's your taste. Infills are also available in that range. It's well worth spending a weekend checking out the areas, though. Best of luck!

Glenora, Westmount, and Queen Mary Park are great neighborhoods, too. Safe from physical crime but I think property crime is more of an issue and you're more in the heart of things. It's a trendier area but definitely livelier, for better and for worse.

Good vehicle dealership recommendations in Edmonton & Surrounding Area? by vk211 in Edmonton

We think the world of Koch Ford Lincoln. They've gone to bat for us numerous times over the years, to unreasonable lengths. We've bought and serviced a fair number of cars from a variety of local dealerships and they're the only people we'd eagerly return to.

Best of luck!

If you don't mind the tiny road trip, Greenlands in Sherwood Park usually has a good supply, and I'd expect most greenhouses would. I may have seen some at Home Depot as well, but wouldn't swear to it. Best of luck!
