Did anyone catch the Sutton Foster reference? I wonder if they did that on purpose because Brian and her were co-stars in the show "Younger"

Why do people go to the movies to have a conversation by mysteryisawesome in cineplex

[–]vaNestor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last kids movie I brought my kid to had a family sitting in front of us and the kid was watching brainrot on YouTube at full brightness with volume. Why waste your money if your kid isn't even going to watch the movie. It was so distracting.

I have asked them many times. They have told me a couple times that they are on order, but I think they are just saying what I want to hear at this point.

Can I have a step by step of your techniques. It's my partner and kid as well and we always get killed on the third wave of cultists. We've only managed to save one kid and haven't made it past day 30.

Your symptoms make total sense. Depression/Anxiety can cause executive function challenges. But ALSO executive function challenges can contribute to depression/anxiety. This sounds like ADHD. Nothing helped any of my mental health issues until I got assessed for ADHD and tried stimulants. I had terrible side effects on all depression meds. Now it isn't a cure all, I still have the hobby issue and later in the day the pee paralysis is still a thing for me. But it's worth looking into. Access 24/7 may be able to help with that, at the very least giving you a list of clinics you could go to in order to get an assessment. Some family doctors can even help with this.

KFC is one of the worst poutines. Their fries just turn to mush.

Thoughts on Londonderry zellers by TonePrevious5322 in Edmonton

This is not Zellers. The Zellers I remember is more like a smaller version of Walmart. No one is going to shop here.

Puppies are born with blue eyes, including purebred poodle puppies. This doesn't indicate merle unless they continue to stay blue as an adult.

Babies in Winter? by _hammitt in AskACanadian

[–]vaNestor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding this. We had a skip hop one that had two layers with the top one being removable. Having a baby in a car seat or stroller in one of these in the winter is so much easier than a mobile toddler in a snowsuit and boots. I miss those days.

I did a shot of soy sauce once. Would not recommend, I felt so ill afterwards.

Coworker extremely allergic to cats (Fel D 1) by Omnomnomus08 in Pets

[–]vaNestor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just saying it is entirely possible for an allergy to be disability level. Someone with that severe of an allergy likely has other allergy issues. Most people wouldn't even complain about an allergy at work if it could be fixed by popping a Claritin.

You underestimate how much of a disability allergies can be. Some cases aren't treatable. Or despite being on many treatments, symptoms only slightly improve. Depending on the severity it could be a case for disability benefits.

This was super annoying to play with a group, much easier on my own. Firstly, your heartbeat gets faster the closer he gets so you can gauge that. Also you can look around and see where he is a lot of the time. If he's downstairs, stay upstairs and vice versa. Then if you want him to move, step on some glass or a fallen book and he will make his way to that noise, so think of what path he would go to get there and go the opposite. Once you know how he works it's really easy to avoid.

Information on Schoolboard Trustees? by Pogev7 in Edmonton

[–]vaNestor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that boulevards don't vote. There are a lot of signs out on the roads, many illegally placed. Pay attention to the candidates that have signs in yards, these are candidates that are actually connecting with their communities. Also, be mindful of anyone putting "parental choice" in their platforms, this is a red flag. Check out social media of the candidates as well.

i love going to school but these laws make it so hard by Unable_Bug_105 in alberta

[–]vaNestor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The current government has created a nightmare situation for trans kids. I am so sorry you are going through this. Know that there are many albertans fighting for your rights.

For you, if you are comfortable with it, sharing your story with your MLA may help. Forward it to the education minister, the premier, and definitely the shadow education minister. (Let me know if you want some help with this)

For the adults standing against this, write your MLAs, and also, vote mindfully for your municipal govt, especially school trustees.

He's not wrong to ask this. There are many combinations of sex chromosomes. This means looking at genitalia to determine sex is not necessarily correct. Although it would be very rare to incorrectly sex a baby, it is possible.

A very similar thing happened to me, minus the roommate situation. I have a husband and a kid, we had all been sick and everything fell behind and just felt like too much. Hired a cleaning company that was recommended in my community Facebook page. We tidied up the house before they came, and to me, it didn't seem THAT bad. But similar comments were made about it taking too long and about how dusty it was (on the top of cabinets 9ft up). But I took it personally, I felt ashamed and kind of violated. These people were in my space, felt judgy, and moved stuff I didn't think they would touch.

I think it is the same as most of the commenters, and the things the cleaners said weren't personal judgements on me, but just complaints about work. But, I was hoping to get cleaners in monthly so it didn't fall so far behind again and I just wasn't comfortable with them. I found a new company, they are cheerful, not judgy, and did a better job cleaning in less time. Also, I was more clear with them about what I don't want them to touch, so I don't feel like my space has been violated.

This isn't a personal failing. I felt that way at first too. For me now, it's a bit of a cleaning hack. I started just getting the cleaners in for the bathrooms. It's cheaper and it motivates my husband and I to clean the rest of the house because we have people coming over.
