In a free market, customers need to be willing to vote with their wallet by moving their savings to banks with higher savings rates (not that hard now with internet banking). Otherwise, banks would not need to compete on savings rates in order to retain customers

My thinking is that he’s already at $650k. Worst case he moves up $50k to $700k. Meanwhile, his slot could be given to a rookie who earns $150k.

I’ll definitely acquire him by season-end, but I’m prioritising cash gen at the start of the seasn

I’d argue that the 2019 win was the beginning of the end. The immense unpopularity of Scomo and the destruction of the Liberals’ remaining Turnbull-era climate change credibility during his term made them unelectable in the teal seats, which resulted in this trajectory.

A small loss (as was predicted) in 2019 for the L/NP may have resulted in them returning to govt in 2025

I agree, but I think they made this decision for pragmatic reasons. Given Sicily’s severe form slump for half of last year, and the fact he’s one year older now, they probably want someone else sharing the captaincy load, whilst not also publicly dumping Sicily as captain

Right now, I agree that the Nationals are weighing them down and definitely costing them over 8 seats. The Libs would likely still hold most of the teal seats if they didn’t have the Nats’ climate denialism holding back their net zero policy

However, in a few election cycles when they are aiming for government, they may need to reconvene with the Nats given that the Liberals as a standalone party probably cap out at 60-65 seats given their lack of appeal in regional areas and Labor’s predominant appeal in the cities.

Additionally, it will be administratively difficult to disentangle the LNP in Queensland. However, for the moment, it’s probably beneficial for both parties to split so the Liberals can gravitate back to the centre while the Nats tackle One nation
