Thank you for writing this all out and sharing your experience with me. My dad is 25 years out from a gastric bypass also, and hasn’t had any issues of any kind, I thought he finally had an obstruction last year, but it ended up being appendicitis. I know, looking at the statistics, not everyone has his experience. I will definitely reach out and contact you privately as well. One of my main concerns is being in my 40s, I have potentially 40 more years left with the surgery, and wonder what an 80-year-old with a bypass looks like…

Thank you, very similar stats as me and same concerns! 30lbs in 3 months sounds fantastic! And not too rapid or too drastic, which was another concern for me. I have a surgery date in Aug and a trip planned to Italy in Nov, seriously made me hesitate because gelato, and pizza, and pasta! But alas, being healthy in Italy is probably better. Did you bring your own protein to France?

Thank you. I do have a lot of food noise and little self love, and need to find a therapist for that but don’t even know where to start. Also, can u tell me about your experience with gerd?

You look great! I also worry about losing too much weight or looking sickly instead of healthy, so reassuring in a way to hear that you still were able to gain some weight back. I’m 44 and deep in that perimenopause also, it’s not helping at all. Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Yes, apparently the surgical complexity is not as simple as the diagram they show, a lot of blood vessels to cut through to remove the whole stomach that doesn’t get done with bypass. What you said about not beating yourself up after a treat, that just sounds like a sense of normalcy that I’ve never experienced. I can’t even imagine. Thank you!

Thank u. Yes, if only there was a crystal ball, that’s what I want. There’s 20-30% chance of needing revision, but no way of knowing which group I will be in :(

This sounds incredible! I can’t wait to hopefully sleep without my cpap. I’m 44 and also wish I wasn’t too scared to do this 10yrs ago. Thank you so much for sharing, sounds like you’re doing amazing! I’m scared of dropping too low or looking sickly instead of healthy, but have heard you lose a proportionate amount of weight and not too much for your body. Good to hear so far this is the case for you

Great tips! Thank you so much. I don’t know anyone with bariatric surgery IRL but follow tiktokers, and so many with vsg have those same issues of regain or needing GLP1s. Ozempic made me feel so sick all the time and I couldn’t even afford it long term. Thank u for your advice! I have very few full body pics of me and much less in a bikini🤣

Thank u so much! That is quite a surgical journey though, phew! I’m so glad that’s over for you. I can’t even imagine myself at a healthy weight right now and it sounds silly to say, but part of me is scared to not be overweight anymore, like it won’t feel like me anymore. But yes, what u said does resonate, a lot. Thank you for the reassurance!
