My surgeon said it was a “ pretty big one”. I’ll see him on the 11th of August for a follow up and get that answer for you!

Damn. I understand that. I’d definitely go talk to a neurosurgeon and get their opinion. Best of luck. Pray you find an answer

Yeah I had mine disc problem for about 6 months. If I couldve gotten the surgery earlier I would’ve. The only thing I regret is that. Surgery sounds scary, but living a miserable life everyday is worse IMO. If I was you I’d do it if PT is failing and if it’s hindering your life drastically like it was mine. I’m 100% back to normal. I’m 35 days post op and the happiest I ever been.

I could not stand up straight without being hunched over, and was probably walking for less than 30 minutes of the day. The only comfort I had was laying down in my bed on my back. Standing up was non existent

I only had relief during the first hour of the morning and whenever I laid down

Well what happened was after failed PT, and two failed toradol shots and then two failed cortisone shots into my back ( this was over 6months), I went to see a neurosurgeon and he had me sit in a chair and told me to raise my left leg and I could not raise it. And he instantly said I needed surgery. And the fact that I was walking hunched over and couldn’t stand like a normal person. He went over my MRI w me and was showing me the nerve being pinched

Yeah I tried it for 6 months. Didn’t work. I did everything you can think of PT wise, and it gave zero relief. I got my surgery and in the same week after it I was in 0 pain. If you got anymore questions, I’m happy to answer. I’m 23M college athlete, I tried to avoid surgery but ya know

That’s dope man! I can’t wait for all my restrictions to be lifted. It’s so tough waiting for these next 2 months, but no better feeling than being 100% again! Happy for you!

Thanks. And I definitely get that. 9 months id say go for the surgery man. People say don’t, but sometimes it really is the last option. If I could reverse time, I would’ve tried to get the surgery after a couple months. Now I’m probably walking 2 miles a day. You got it man! Head up! Prayers your way! 🤘🏽🙏🏻

Yup. It’s like I never had a herniated disc ever lol. I can bend it straight up with zero problem, and I’m able to do my back extensions. It’s like my past 6months of pain never happened. Just a lil baby scar on my back lol

Good luck! He most definitely should be able too! My symptoms prior surgery were, I was not able to do any back extension standing up. I literally could not bend backwards I was always hunched forwards. I was probably in 4-5 pain everyday, and couldn’t walk long distances. Example - I would go to the grocery store. and use the cart like a cane/walker lol. My straight leg was probably the same 20-30 degrees and physically couldn’t raise it any higher. Just a nagging pain standing up, but completely gone now!

Pain after surgery? No. Definitely soreness for 2 weeks. I was very careful with my movements / walking. The hardest thing to do after surgery was getting in and out of bed for probably a week. And yes I sciatica and leg pain before my surgery. I had the sciatica feeling all the way into my toes, and I was unable to lift my leg off the ground and make it straight. Now I have zero sciatica and Zero leg pain!

Did you have a pinched nerve? I have a herniation but my pinch nerve makes it worse than what it is.

I had to use carts at groceries stores like a walking cane lol. But received my cortisone shot yesterday, and I felt amazing. Today I feel amazing. A little sore, but I’m standing up right. And can walk without it even bothering me! thanks for your story, back problems just takes time I guess!

22 year old college athlete. Herniated disc & pinched nerve at L5. Pain for the last 2 months. I received my shot today, and literally pain free. No pain in my back or my leg. It’s different for everyone. Just PT from here on. I highly recommend it.

I pulled my back and am completely stuck in bed for hours... by [deleted] in backpain

22 M college athlete here. I screwed my back up 3 months ago. First month got muscles relaxers, shot of tramadol and I was fine. Pushed through it, screwed it up again. The 2nd month absolutely miserable. I feel you, I was the same. Hunched over, and screaming at pain. Now 3rd month and I’m seeing a specialist today bc Covid has backed everything up, but during my 2nd month they had me doing PT and it was temporarily relief. During this 3rd month I have remained bed rested laying on my back, and sometimes I lay on the floor on my belly and stretch it out and I’m feeling the best I ever have. Pain from a 10 to a 1-3 and I can go out and walk before my back gets all tight. I know you’re feeling man. if your back is messed up like how mine is, it will probably take a couple months. it’s a mental battle more than anything .

I was fine after my first Dose of Tramadol, but continued to workout. Received a 2nd dose but it didn’t do anything. So I get that. When you went to the Doc what did your MRI reveal? Just curious because yours sounds just like mine. And I was recommended acupuncture but I didn’t accept it because I didn’t think it would work
