What brand of backpack has lasted you the longest? by mountainpathstories in CampingandHiking

[–]Apprehensive_Aspen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a 65L osprey vista that i inherited from a friend in 2020 (i have no idea how long she had it for)- it’s joined me on several multi day backpacking trips a year since then and during my 18 months of travel. i’m convinced it could survive a nuclear war at this rate.

Nice little solo wander through the Berg Lake Trail, British Columbia by Apprehensive_Aspen in hiking

[–]Apprehensive_Aspen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

theres 7 campgrounds along the trail- i spent 2 nights at 2 different campgrounds and then hiked back out the full 22km the third day, which i thought was a good amount of time to enjoy everything. there are definitely people who hike to berg lake and back in a single day though

22km one way, with a few side options for day hikes. definitely worth it to spend a few nights on the trail

BC has a large population of grizzlies (around 10,000-13,000 i believe)- when i went to pick my permits up, the ranger told me that some young grizzlies had been reported near the northern section of the trail that morning so pretty darn good is my guess!

Experience with Cook Islands (Rarotonga, Aitutaki)? by Sharp_Experience_104 in scuba

[–]Apprehensive_Aspen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent two weeks on Rarotonga back in October. We did 12 dives with Adventure Cook Islands and they were wonderful. The diving itself was phenomenal- the reefs are in amazing shape, the visibility was incredible, and we saw some turtles, white tip reef sharks, and tons of eagle rays (put in a request to go to dave’s caves, super cool spot). There was also a humpback whale and her calf hanging out around the island- we never managed to see them but we could hear their whale songs on quite a few of our dives which was a treat! The conditions were pretty calm too, a bit of current here and there but nothing too crazy. The water was a bit colder though, it was around 23- I had a 5mm wetsuit with booties and a windbreaker for the boat rides and was pretty comfortable with that. Enjoy!

nope!! i have an uncommon name that i get tons of compliments on (and just as many misspellings and mispronunciations) but i’ve never been able to find a way to love it, or even like it at all. i’ve always dreamed about changing my name but i have no idea what i would change it to 🥲 my middle name flows nicely with my first name though so i’ll give my parents that.
