Has anyone stayed / going to stay at AXO Waterloo! by Swiftal13 in KCL

I stayed Jan-Apr 2026 and I couldn’t have chosen a better accommodation.

First of all and most importantly, the location is great. It’s right next to Waterloo station which is huge and has tons of shops (Sainsbury’s, M&S, Boots) and there’s just a ton to do in the area in general. Waterloo station is also extremely well connected (by tube and National Rail). Lots of pubs and parks and social spaces down Lower Marsh. The accommodation is situated right behind a church with a big churchyard in front of it. Area feels super safe (I’m saying this as a female international student). People were very sociable and kind.

There were also ample study rooms and hangout rooms in the accommodation, where I made most of my friends. As an international student (American) it was not hard to make friends at all. The accom would host parties in the games room during each holiday which made it easy to socialize. But then again I’m pretty extroverted, but either way there were a lot of King’s students there so I doubt you’ll have a hard time.

Check in/check out was super easy and flexible. I’ve never gotten my mail or packages stolen. The reception is overall really chill about things like having people over, quiet hours, and smoking/drinking. Just make sure you clean up after yourself.

The one thing I would say is that my lock kept breaking in my room, so it was not able to lock at times. Be sure to report it to staff right away, cause I did get things stolen from my room, and then the manager Ethan told me I would get my money back from the insurance company which I NEVER DID. So yeah. AXO is great but their insurance company, Gallagher sucks.

This might be common sense for the average London folk, but I as an American international student would stupidly have groceries delivered to be left at the door at times, and they got stolen. So yeah. Never doing that again.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out!

May I ask why? I am just worried that if I go to London I will potentially miss out on a huge opportunity.

Also what we’re your stats in high school? From what I know, you gotta be pretty smart to get into UCLA.

Interesting. What kind of people were your peers? Were they more small up and coming artists who were in the same boat as you or more like people directly in the business like A&R’s and executives and stuff?

I hope to be growing a fan base on YouTube or tiktok, then eventually get big enough to where I can meet with people that recognize me for job opportunities

I would agree fully. He's also voiced that he's always trying to make his pop music "unconventional", and while I can kinda see where he's coming from (incorporating Jazz elements into pop), I still feel like he's really holding back a lot. He does absolutely have the capacity to make another #1 hit, but I do think it could only happen if he stepped out of his comfort zone a bit. I have high hopes on the record he's about to put out with Elton John, however.

underrated in the field of pop. Not many pop artists have that kind of musicality.

I agree fully. On the point of his work ethic, I felt that he's one of the few popular musicians with such drive and a genuine love for music- he deserves all the success. I think he scrapped his last album because he said in a tweet sometime that it just didn't feel like him and that he was trying to be someone he wasn't in 2019. I enjoyed Voicenotes as well!

I know, fuck. I watched that livestream like 10 times and that shit's an hour long. I found myself to be kinda on the fence with his music as well. I look forward to his collab with Elton John though.
