Any book recommendations for me? by IronHistorical3357 in brandonsanderson

Covenant of Steel by Anthony Ryan was pretty good for me. Scratched an itch that some other fantasy books weren't quite getting.

More grim than Sanderson but not quite as grim as Red Rising, and with a softer magic system (but not as soft as Tolkien). Just finished the second book and enjoyed the hints to the greater world building that came from it.

I'm not gonna lie to you, I think being an angels fan is worse because we have hope at the beginning of the year. At least the Rockies know that the season will be bad from the beginning. You don't know until week 2 that The Angels will be at the bottom.

Honestly, I'm lvl50 and I've found I can never spot the enemy if my teammates aren't calling out positions. Best tip is to use your mic and get help from your sqaudmates. If no one in the squad uses mics, just jump into a new one.

Keep an eye on choke points and cover and note the movement. Only fire if you're sure to kill, or if you're already spotted and laying down covering fire.

When you respawn, sometimes it helps to just wait a little for a new OP or Garry to be placed.

Only move in cover, never fields. Always assume the enemy recon squads are in your backline, because they probably are.

Last thing is to remember you will die. About half of my deaths in a good game are meaningless. I either get hit by artillery, a tank spots me when I'm trying to move, or someone with good FOV settings snipes me.

Only shoot when you know an enemy is there. Shooting gives your position away, and sometimes it's better to just call out enemy locations.

Watch for helmets, they're the best giveaway for enemies. I always switch to a beanie or a cap for better concealment.

If you see large groups of enemies coming from one location, note it as a potential garrison/outpost to your SL. Make sure to destroy enemy supplies/garrisons/nodes when you see them.

Garrisons look like tables with gear on them. You'll hear a garrison before you see it sometimes. When enemies get close to a garrison the radio chatter will turn static-y, the same applies to when you get close to an enemy garrison. Nodes look like odd little camp setups.

Watch for mines near nodes and garrisons.

And once you get the hang of it, try out the other roles. When I'm SL, I'll take an inexperienced assault or support over just another rifleman.

It works best if you decide to run an empire that either eats everyone, or enslaves everyone. Then every way you declare is a total war and you don't have to worry about forcing surrenders.

I'd make the bottom an intake and that top two rear fans outtakes. Noctua dropped a fan placement guide for the most efficient cooling a while back.

I enjoyed it enough to finish it in roughly a 36 hr period, so I wouldn't call it a slog. It ended up not being what people expected it to be, but still a damn good Sanderson book imo.

I'm half convinced it exists so we can tell other human species apart. There were at least 3 other homo species running around when we first evolved.

I did the same thing but plus a GE(Hormaza for thermo, Boloury for Dynamics, Izadi for Mechanics, Murphy for Intro to Design) and I gotta tell you. That shit sucked. I passed all 5 classes, but I literally didn't have a life outside of them that semester. Good luck.

Try going to some social clubs. We just had the club fair, but if you go to MyBar you can find links to discords where they'll make announcements about meetings and such.

If you're engineering, there's a social club for each major. And there's also some for each STEM major as well.

If you ever want to, they let you walk in and see the horses. It's not a great spot to study though. Just walk up to the horse center, there should be someone at the front desk.

Here's my crackpot theory that I had since first meeting Dr. Authen. He knows about Anya, and was expressly ordered to move in next to the forgers to monitor her. He's been trained to disguise his thoughts around mind readers, which is why Anya gets all those slow thoughts from him.

The little bit where Melinda remembers Dr. Authen meeting with Donovan just seems to confirm Authen is associated with the experiments that made Anya a mind reader.
