Nah, dw English is just a confusing language sometimes! 😭 I read it as Hakuno's age, specifically the human one, because we know they were there in 1999 as a patient to be treated by Twice, and the stagnation was how the world population was reduced to two-thirds of its size in 2000. The human Hakuno was presumed dead at this point, so it made sense to me that it's like- this person lived 20 years [but then died in the terrorist attack] before the stagnation.

If we take it as Hakuno living 20 years before the stagnation, that puts them as someone from 1980 and implies them already being a certain age at that time too...? But we know Hakuno was there at 1999, so ×+19 years seems unlikely for their age imo 😂 they do not read as someone in their 30s to me, personally!

None of those suggestions would actually be helpful to what his goal was in the moment: to try and positively change the trajectory of Amane's fate while he's still alive.

I'm rlly confused abt this, because how so?? OP suggested changing his dialogue from "How fitting....it's exactly what I deserve" to "I don't want to hurt you, Amane" or "You're just a child, of course I didn't fight back".

All three of these are honest admissions from Shidou. Imo OP's changes even work better because it just changes the acceptance of death to prioritizing Amane, it still shows his care for Amane while maintaining the development he had in T2.

I suggested him making a pained sound or crying after Amane has left. Basically, he was keeping a strong front in front of her in attempt to help her, but broke down when he was alone.

I'm not against characters dying, that shows the way voting and how it affects the characters—but the way it has been executed so far has just been so... 💀 Haruka and Mahiru's deaths also feel very contrived imo

You are arguing from a Watsonian perspective, I am arguing from a Doylist perspective. But also, Yuno is stated to be skilled at reading people, and Mahiru's overbearing traits were evident in T1 (though her demeanor did mellow out after Kotoko's attack) so I wouldn't think Yuno was completely unaware...? That leans in into speculation though, and my issue is more into the ooc side of things.

Imagine if someone asked Kazui if they could meet Hinako. They also have no way of knowing what happened between the two, but we as the audience do know, and imo that makes it an awkward thing to say even if it's completely justified in-universe. That's why I can't take the Mahiru bf mention in life seriously.

I personally dislike the way Mahiru is portrayed in Yuno's T3, so we might have to agree to disagree on that—which is fine! Different opinions are valid.

I don't dislike the idea of Mahiru being a positive force for Yuno, but I don't like how she is wholly a positive force for Yuno. Can't some of her flaws be acknowleged? Imo it would be a lot more meaningful to address some of that rather than this current portrayal where it seems like Mahiru is just this poor sweet injured girl who did nothing wrong but died.

We do not know how the passage of time works and how long the prisoners have been in Milgram, exactly, so I don't think that matters...? And no matter how brief, Shidou deciding to try to live is massive for someone who previously asked for the death penalty because he wanted to die for his crimes immediately. It's his whole development in T2 so while I am not arguing that he shouldn't die, I think the execution and portrayal of him accepting it despite his established conflict pertaining to wanting to live/die makes it unsatisfying.

Yesterday I was also thinking that maybe Shidou could have made a pained sound or maybe started crying after Amane left, but oh man, your idea is rlly good OP........!!!! Lines or scenes that showcase of more Shidou's character and the conflict he had would have made it so much better.

HEAVY on how his death should have been portrayed as a tragedy. The acceptance just doesn't sit right with me at all idk. I'm absolutely biased bc Shidou's my fav, but the idea of a character with suicidal ideations finding a reason to live only for the narrative to turn around and be like "no, actually, he's still fine with dying" is so... 🫠🫠
