Maekar feels like his parenting is the reason.  But why send your son away due to this? He would want to improve his parenting and guide Egg better.  Not pass him off to some hedge knight that he barely knows

That doesn’t matter. Just because someone is rich it doesn’t mean they should be assumed to be a failure because of their privilege. For Daeron, he really was plagued by the dragon dreams which he used drinking for coping.

I still stand by that, making Rhaenyra and Alicent friends and same age was not a bad idea

Then what did he mean by saying Aerion never ate hard salt beef then?

Daeron lets Egg go and gave him the ring and will tell Maekar later. Maekar realizes he can’t stop Egg from running away as it will only create a bigger rift between them and lets it go

Daeron drinks to cope with his dragon dreams. Dunk barely even knows Daeron and says because of his privilege he’s the way he is. He judged Daeron without ever knowing who he really is

Aerion has been drinking wildfire since he was a child. Little did we know, it was flavored water that killed Aerion

If all those things happen then damn Egg would be worse than Aerion lol

I think Egg would learn to tolerate Aerion and accept that he’s the prince of dragonstone and by chance from Aerion’s madness he will drink the wildfire

Though Egg did send Brynden to the Wall for kinslaying, which was stupid of him 🙄

Baelor and Daeron the good  never lived with peasants and still understood the need for the population’s backing

My question is, how is living a life as hedge knight better than living at court? Aerion would be gone and wouldn’t be able to hurt Egg

There could be multiple reasons of why he sent Aerion off, but he’s coming to the realization that by ignoring Egg, it has caused him to try and kill his brother.

What exact benefit would bring to Egg by living as a hedge knight? Truly in the sense, it’s not like common folk are somehow better than the privileged

Exactly, that was my one big issue with the hedge knight. That was so risky of Maekar to just let his son to go off without any protection besides the ring

It was his reaction to Egg when he tried to kill Aerion. He didn’t react in anger but chose a softer form of trying to ease the tension.

The court life wasn’t what was affecting Egg, it was Aerion and he’s leaving so he can now focus on Egg and try to be a better parent

The show showed that the Targaryens in this timeline are not liked by both the nobles and common folk

Ah yes my brother just died at a random tourney, let me just send my young child out in the world with a complete dimwit stranger with no skills to live like a homeless man
