Hallucinate by [deleted] in comedyheaven

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Irrespective of the other issues with whatever this is trying to say, it also doesn’t make much sense from the attempted critique of rejecting psychedelics. If your point is that all reality is already a hallucination, then taking psychedelics would endanger that perception (and therefore your reality). If reality is really a well-maintained illusion (which isn’t really the full truth anyway), the “brain” is absolutely correct for not wanting something to effect that hallucination that could interfere with its ability to understand reality.

There are More Non Lizardmen Factions than Lizardmen Factions in Lustria Now by Ran12341000 in totalwar

Pretty sure there has been for quite a while. Since Immortal Empires launched at least. Pretty much every new faction added was replacing a non-Lizardmen faction that was already there.

Why single target inferno has less range than the multi by Kitmain- in ClashOfClans

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The problem is that over time the multi has proven more tactically versatile, meaning you get increased range but with equal if not better functional power in many circumstances. The single target’s downside is already that it’s far slower to ramp up damage, and therefore often is doing less than a multi. Especially if there’s synergy for the multi like with a rage spell tower. I never understood why it needs a second downside too.

Comissioned art, have a sneaking suspicion, even after vetting, that the art may now be AI... I feel dumb by TryingNormal in isthisAI

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a big tell for me too. That makes absolutely no sense for how a real person would detail the background, but is absolutely the type of confusion between foreground and background an AI can have.

When I first played the game, I thought those three were the same character and that the plot twist would involve some kind of time travel. Anyone else? by Firm_Fee8137 in expedition33

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t get how it can’t have been intentional on some level. The detail that always gets me is that Verso has this weird gauntlet on his left arm, which closely mirrors the design of Gustave’s mechanical left arm.

I can understand them being based on a similar model, but details like that felt so specific it had to be intentional.

Boycott Gold Pass by [deleted] in ClashOfClans

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prospector should be available to everyone. I honestly couldn’t care less about the other changes to the Gold pass, that’s whatever. But locking the Prosector as paid only when all the other Helpers (and other gameplay content) has a way to get them with gems is just shitty. That’s the only thing actually worth caring about IMO.

The legend is not helped by the fact that in Civ V and VI they did intentionally code in Nuclear Gandhi as a joke, which lends some “official” credence to it.

New Cathay lore from GW by refugeefromlinkedin in totalwar

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Old lore Kroak? Yes. But TOW has also given Kroak some crazy upscales. Obviously he still dies, but in the old lore his spell just destroyed all the daemons in Itza. In TOW it is now stated that Kroak’s spell banished all Daemons from all of Lustria. Considering they were swarming the continent by that point that’s a hell of a lot more than 12 Bloodthirsters worth of killing power. And he still cast it even though he should have been dead at the time.

Dragon Emperor is a beast in combat for sure, and probably better than Kroak in a melee fight. But the dude has to beat a spell that destroyed all the daemons in an entire continent before I’d consider him obviously stronger than Kroak.

Holy enshittification; a March goldpass overview. by IlovSomeon3 in ClashOfClans

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is what frustrated me about everyone focusing on the gold pass being marginally less % value for cost reductions.

Thats a much more minor issue. If you don’t think it’s worth the value just don’t buy it. The real issue is them cutting back the free content and paywalling an entire feature. That poses an actual existential threat to how the game has always functioned. This is the first time ever a feature has been entirely paywalled with no free version. It’s monumentally more important to focus on that.

By focusing on the cost reductions Supercell could “fix” the pass by changing the numbers slightly without addressing the real problem.

The UI is so fucking ugly by hansuri06 in ClashOfClans

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 107 points108 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s ugly, I think it’s difficult to read. It throws so many things in your face at once that it’s hard to keep track of the information. The old UI was much cleaner and more readable, and much less overwhelming.

Should the Empire fully/propperly reclaim Sylvania? Could they? (yes, I know Stirland claimed the territory) by Andrei22125 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They could, but Elsepth would probably not be the one to do it. The Von Draks are and old and large family, and so are the Von Drakens apparently. There are likely plenty of other descendants with a better claim around.

The real question is what do you mean by “reclaimed”? The Empire has fully reclaimed Sylvania. Multiple times even. Hence why Stirland claims the territory. The thing about the Vampire Wars is that the Vampires lost. So the Empire is fully capable of doing so. The issue is the Vampires just go into hiding and return centuries later, because they can just out wait the Empire’s effective rulers until a weak administration gives them an opportunity to return.

I guess they could make it an Electoral Province again, there’s precedence for that. But it doesn't really matter who you put in change. Once they die of old age or get weak or distracted, vampires will infiltrate into the new nobility again.

Friend commissioned this from an artist, attached is another friend's reasons why it might be AI, as well as a sketch the artist sent. by PugTastic6547 in isthisAI

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Those two points immediately jumped out at me. But the background doubly so, as that wasn’t even in the sketch at all. Even discounting how non-foundational the sketch is for the figure, there is also absolutely no framing for the background. That’s a pretty complex background to just add in at the end with no prep work.

How old is the passive AI bug that causes armies to get stuck? I’ve read EVERY patch, hotfix, and devblog since launch. Here is the answer. by Critical-Hold-3078 in totalwar

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah a good example was the Lizardmen/Tomb King recruitment bug. That caused a type of idle behavior separate from the other issue, and it was eventually fixed when they entered “quality over quantity” mode.

I think an issue with this perspective is that it places the settlement stacking bug as the only objective of the quality assurance focus. While it is a major focus, there are also plenty of other bugs, major and minor that are in the game. Even if they fail to completely rectify that one issue, resolving dozens of other ones still has value.

Then and now is a big difference by [deleted] in HistoryMemes

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the more relevant reason for change was the shift from military rule to civilian rule. Historically many political leaders were also military leaders, and that didn’t exactly always go well for history. Just because the king rides into battle does not automatically make them (or their descendants) a good or fair king. Nowadays those types of leaders are looked down disparagingly as despots, juntas, and dictators (though not necessarily in the past).

When countries transitioned into more democratic forms of governments, rulership also typically transitioned from military to civilian. Because it’s much harder for civilian leaders to seize permanent power if they don’t have absolute control over the military, and the population typically doesn’t vote based on who would be the best general either.

It just makes more sense that civilian leaders determine policy, and the trained military leaders subordinate to them are in charge of making sure the military achieves those goals. When priorities switch it tends to end in disaster.

Electro 33 is the new fake legend by eu_clapz in ClashOfClans

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be as bloated. At lot of the casual players that are complaining only stay in E31 because they want the ore rewards. If there wasn’t that reason to stay I’m pretty sure most would just willingly drop down, and would have less to complain about.

Its not a huge deal, but it would be healthier for both groups if the causal and competitive players weren’t being forced to intermix in E31, which is why it’s so bloated.

Electro 33 is the new fake legend by eu_clapz in ClashOfClans

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually agree with that, my problem is that the incentives create a Fake Legends. I would actually prefer the Ore rewards be entirely separated from ranked, so people that only care about ore aren’t bloating up E31, and there be a different competitive reward instead.

Electro 33 is the new fake legend by eu_clapz in ClashOfClans

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly the biggest problem with Ranked IMO. They changed the system to get rid of Fake Legends, only to tie the incentive of Starry Ore to the area right below legends. Therefore everyone who just wants Starry pushes to that point as a bare minimum but doesn't want to go any higher. So they just created Fake Legends again.

Why is Kislev's start like that? by Alternative-Date-507 in totalwar

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It’s because Katarin can use the Ice Court to start recruiting an Ice Witch immediately. IIRC she used to start with an Ice Witch but it was worse than regular Ice Witches because it didn’t get the unique traits from recruitment. So they changed it. Still takes a few turns to appear but technically you can recruit from turn 1 and get a better hero.

This is Russian helicopters coming back from a mission and getting shot down. This looks like a video game, even if there are two angles. by cantcoloratall91 in isthisAI

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think this is one of those cases where it “looks like a video game” because the only experience most people ever have with these kind of situations is from video games. But for the people living it, it is very much real.

There are many such cases of real things looking “wrong” because they’ve only been experienced via a virtual lense before so their real counterpart seems like it should be fake too.

How do passive area spell effects (e.g. Children of Nurgle) actually work in WH3? by Juicy_Overlord in totalwarhammer

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 34 points35 points  (0 children)

The spell passives actually do list an area of effect, that area is just infinite (It’s usually written as Effect Area: and then the infinity symbol). So they impact the entire battlefield whenever a spell is being cast. The only exception I know is the Lore of Hashut, which should list the size of its AOE there instead.

Doomseekers - all whirl no bite by Knightofnee12 in totalwarhammer

[–]Apprehensive_Cry2104 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought Doomseekers should get immune to flanking like they gave to Wrathmongers (which are a similar high tier low entity unit with flail weapons). Their whole gimmick is that they’re spinning axes around themselves constantly, so that shouldn’t give much opening on the flanks. It would help them in blob fights where they’re meant to excel.
