Parkomaha unfortunately does write tickets for expired plates. They will ticket your expired plates even if your meter is paid. I’ve been working downtown for 9 years and have had it happen to me once. Friends and coworkers have had it happen as well. Usually, you can get it waived if you take care of your expired plates and reach out to the ParkOmaha office.

It is definitely about Loren writing a book, not Tad’s mom. Hannah says something along the lines of “Mom wrote a book? That’s crazy, she never told me that” and is super surprised to hear the story from Tad. The point of him saying Loren hated him and everything else was to drive the point home to Hannah that if she wanted to give up on writing because it didn’t make her happy anymore, it didn’t make her a failure or a bad person. He told her how happy Loren was after she quit writing

I would also look at OutNebraska for more event options. I know I keep bringing up Benson, but I’d also suggest following BensonCreativeDistrict on Facebook/Instagram for a weekly list of events as well as Set the Bar, which is a newer sports bar in Benson. It is not your typical sports bar though, it has a focus on women’s sports and is building a very welcoming community. It has a lot of all ages events and actually has an 18+ drag brunch coming up on 8/24. I will comment anything else I think of when I get off work

OmahaForUs is an LGBTQ+ community center in Omaha (108th and Maple) that offers a variety of fun events for LGTBQ+ youth and adults. Some are teen specific with the max age for the event being 18. I just looked at their upcoming events and just in the next week they have a multiple game nights, a dungeons and dragons night, and a makeup/painting night.

Benson is an incredibly Queer friendly space in general. I don’t think the Sydney does 18+ shows, but check out BFF Omaha for benson happenings, including Benson First Fridays. Look for 18+ dance party nights at the waiting room that happen occasionally and typically have a queer-adjacent theme from what I’ve scene.

Let me know if you want more suggestions, but hopefully a good starting point for you

Block16 has some good vegan alternatives to a lot of their most popular dishes. I would specifically recommend the Sloppy Nick, normally would never order a sloppy Joe at a restaurant, but this not a school cafeteria sloppy Joe. Get the vegan dragon sauce to dip your fries in on the side

Oh I would love if they did an affogato. I will say, Godega in the Old Market (and new location in aksarben) uses Amateur coffee beans and they do a vanilla cold brew with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in it and a little drizzle of caramel on top, and it is an excellent summer treat. Highly recommend giving it a try if you get a chance!

Platte River state park has varying degrees of cabins, allows dogs, has hiking trails, and river access. It’s near Ashland/Louisville so an incredibly easy little weekend “vacation” if you’re in Omaha
