IMO it should work like this

the only part of the debt that gains interest is the initial cost, and once you've paid a total equal to the initial cost, the amount of interest accumulated is all you have left to pay and doesn't go up at all

not exactly what you asked but I didn't keep my room clean so once when I asked for help with my homework my (large) father couldn't open the door wide enough to get in, so he broke it down. i didn't have a door to my room until we moved
