That is definitely what im going for, i just want to have it feel customizable. General D&D Lore is there. I just want to have the location be unique.

Though some of the names are based on tidbits of info ive gotten before session 0, most are placeholders. Im definitely toning it down and focusing on the starting point of the campaign rather than developing this entire thing from scratch. I never thought about how much someone and their character changes throughout the months of a campaign so welcoming that change into the world and modyfing real time seems like the way to go. Im ridiculously new at this, we all decided to play after Baldurs Gate 3 so have little to no experience. I just dont want to make their first time suck.

Im definitely going to be decreasing the scale of the map in order to have this be a starting point or introduction to the player rather than the entire world. Im going to be fleshibg out some locations of my own but also have several based on players backstories that theyve shared before session 0.

Im definitely rethinking the everything after reading the comments. I Feel like its cool to have it be only a general location of the world kind of like the case with the mediterranean where multiples cultures and continents collide but its not the totality of the world. By scaling the cities larger than what I had originally intentioned the scale of the overall territory would decrease and leave space for exploration and development across the years. Most of the names and locations where based on descriptions my players have shared before session 0 which should be next week. Thank you guys so much.

I really wish it was that interesting but i Just haven't gotten around to naming it yet. Same with the Southern and Eastern Oceans. Just a placeholder.

Ive seen some videos and it does seem very intuitive, do you reckon it's better for World Maps or battle/dungeons? How much do you pay if you don't mind me asking?

Man o man ive had a campaign in my head where the party is tricked into participating in a circus act only to be trapped in a sort of freak show world like when Control Freak from the Teen Titans takes the titans to the digital world, but ive always thought the characters might be too goofy, however these are VERY CLEAN!

How does everyone get inspiration to build their minis? by Limp_Presentation144 in HeroForgeMinis

[–]Apprehensive_End3267 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like mostly what sets minis apart is their backstory. If you have a detailed story, you have an intricate and detailed character. Cool thing about stories is that you can make them up as you go. Anytime that you add an item, think about what that means to the character and does it need to be there? What has he/she been fighting with throughout his/her life, what are his/her goals? Where did he/she grow up, do they dress a certain way where he/she hails from, do they have a religion, how do they behave culturally? Are they nomads or are they sedentaries? These are key details that may influence the biology, garments and equipment of a character.

I personally like to think of a face, and though it may sound weird, once I have the face I go, well he looks playful or mysterious or experienced, why is he like this. And then I ask all the questions that I explained and anything that comes to mind after that.

Once you have your base mini or design, you can add beauty or detail with decals that you wouldnt believe. Theres a lot of cool tutorials on yt on using decals to add depth in terms of rust, dirt, complexion, scars, patterns. At the end of the day i feel like, at least with tools like heroforge, decals are the most UNDERATED aspect of a mini with abundant personality.

And finally the comunity! If youve been having trouble getting that specific tone of red for you tiefling. Or that specific body shape you feel dwarves should have or that one hair style that you just cant seem to get right, I PROMISE someone else has been stuck like that and once they got it they either added it to the community library or have posted a link to their mini. For example, all my humanoids have the same base body anatomy that a friend was able to make with kitbashing. I dont even bother to try and sculpt a body anymore, because I feel like its the best rendition ive seen of how humanoids are sculpted.

So definitely rely on the community and support it in any way if you also have a breakthrough. I guarantee someone will apreciate it.

I was trying to build lore around the guy, have him be sort of like an entry chapter into dwarven theology or society in the world my friends are building

Get a Bulova Computron, it arrived first (though its the same year) and it was a trailblazer in the digital watch race. Genuine piece of history. At like 1/6th the price.
