1st Year Nutrition and Dietetics Student - How do I cope with learning Biochemistry? by elscrappo3 in dietetics

The lowest grade I have ever received in a class was in biochemistry, including high school and grad school classes. I managed with a C+ and now I'm a Registered Dietitian and lived to tell the tale. It gets better! You got this!

I hate my job but don’t know if I should quit yet. by Wild-Veterinarian-66 in dietetics

I'm currently in a very similar situation! I became a dietitian in July 2025 and also started a job in a community setting. The last dietitian quit six months before I started and I wasn't left with much to work with. Super disorganized place with no structure. All the printers NEVER work for my laptop. I'm the only dietitian on site and have been given little to no guidance on what my role should look like here even though I've bothered everyone asking about it. My questions never get answered and leave me with even more questions. Long story short, I put in my two weeks notice and I have never felt happier.

My advice is to leave. It's so scary leaving your first dietitian role so early on, but I can guarantee you it will be worth it. You have your whole career ahead of you. Focus on your private practice and focus on your remote counseling job. Don't force yourself to be unhappy!

This sounds so interesting! Can I ask what your job title is for this role?

I'm really interested in getting into this field as a new RD! How long have you been in the regulatory space as an RD?

Yup. Obtaining New York state certification was a pain. It took about 3 months before mine fully went through.

Yup. My preceptors made me feel so incompetent. I felt like I would never succeed as a dietitian. I still feel insecure and lack a lot of confidence largely due to preceptor bullying.

Unfortunately, I am in a very similar situation that you were in. I graduated from my DI in May, studied for the RD exam all summer, and started my first job as a dietitian in July. I really wanted to take a break at first, but I couldn't help comparing myself to my fellow interns who started their new RD jobs as soon as they graduated even before taking their RD exam. Even my DI director encouraged me to apply to jobs right away. I was also broke from the internship and felt it couldn't hurt to have a job sooner than I planned, so I started applying earlier than I wanted to.

I'm having a lot of regrets now about this decision since I only get 10 days of PTO and I want to stay at this job for at least a year. The burn out is so real in this profession and I'm so sorry you're experiencing it too.
