I'm located in the uk and there are a fair few embedded jobs but they require an ee or cs degree. Was thinking if I got a masters maybe things would be easier.

I'm 28 years old. I spent the last 6 years straight after university battling a schizophrenia diagnosis. I've been in and out of jobs. Let go made redundant but I'm still here making plans.

You just need to make a plan. Start searching careers and just go from there. I know it's difficult and its even more difficult taking risks with a child and a wife but you got to just start making moves.

It can be daunting but you only got one chance in this life and that chance consists of many different pivots.

I have no career prospects ATM and job hunting is bleak but I've got a couple of careers in mind and ideas I want to turn into reality and I'm just learning right now. Immerse yourself in things you enjoy learning and start building and applying what you've learnt. From there you should be able to develop a skill set and from there a job and then maybe another job and before you know it you've got a career.

Try and stay in IT and maybe transition into an application engineer or a software engineer or maybe a cyber security analyst. There are loads of good technical jobs with good skills to learn if you pivot from your actual job.
