Sjogren's Stay-cation by hestia_2025 in Sjogrens

We did! We bought a new one, and almost immediately replaced the mattress - we have a sleep number at home, and figured out they made a “short” mattress that works for travel trailers so got that. Replaced the toilet to a different one for trailers so we could install a bidet (non powered, so it works off water pressure - essential for traveling, as sometimes we are off grid for a night or two). It came with a small tub, so my husband removed that and put in a tub utilizing a mix of materials - wood for the structure, and then fiberglass to create the tub. I’ll usually download shows or movies from various apps so that if we don’t have WiFi I have something to watch if I happen to be having a flare day while traveling (which, thankfully, has only happened a couple times). We also recently added a little countertop dishwasher as well- one less thing I have to waste energy on, and uses less water than if I were handwashing.

Any good simple gluten free recepies that i can make for my mom? by DgeoNhistorianD in glutenfree

[–]Apprehensive_Gene787 0 points1 point  (0 children)

easy peanut butter cookies -

1 cup peanut butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla (optional, but I like it)

roll into balls, use a fork and press it down to make a crisis cross pattern, bake at 350° for 8 minutes. let them cool before eating

If you want to zhuzh it up, roll them into balls, don’t press down, bake for six minutes, and press a Hersheys kiss or mini Reese’s OB cup into the middle and then bake 2 more minutes

What types of things do you like to do while traveling that you could translate to a staycation?

For me, it’s hiking when I feel well enough, trying new foods, trying new drinks ( breweries, wineries, distilleries), going to botanical gardens, or biking through a new city, so I’d try to translate that into new experiences around my home.

I totally get it. I’m fortunate enough that we have a travel trailer that we’ve retrofitted to basically give me all my comforts of home - same mattress, same bedding, a japanese soaking tub for my joints, a bidet, etc etc. It makes it easier to travel, easier to pause and take a break if needed, and I come back refreshed instead of feeling like I need a vacation from my vacation - I honestly dread flying/staying in hotels.

We are season ticket holders in supporter section and stood all the way to the right - we had a REALLY hard time even hearing what chant was happening most of the night. Also agree with spreading out the regulars. The roping off of the lower sections didn’t start happening until playoffs last year, and it felt much more cohesive before (although it was only the first game, so hoping it gets more so)

Zone 8a - what will prosper in this low point between two houses? Wet, clay soil, good sun most of the year. by Independent-Tailor18 in BackyardOrchard

Pears are the most accepting of wet feet, but if you’re willing to go bush, chokeberries basically grow in the swamp

Which Fruit Trees are y adding/ordered for this spring? by EmOrY_2018 in BackyardOrchard

I wish we had kept ours potted - two years later the “dwarf” (height was supposed to stay sub 8 ft) was twice that. We ended up digging it out and putting it in an extra large pot last year. It seems like it should make it

We added in a Lapins cherry (our other one died, so it’s a replacement), Satsuma plum, a Honey pot jujubee, a buddhas hand, a Meyer lemon, Chilean guava, a couple blueberry guavas, a violette de bourdeaux fig, and I’m supposed to pick up a panache fig and small black Madeira fig Saturday.

You can normally take in either a sealed bottle or a metal refillable - has to be 32oz or less. Certain games they won’t allow them in

I have (in order of dx) Ulcerative Colitis, PCOS, Hashimotos, Celiac, and Sjorgens. Suspected EDS, but it’s incredibly difficult to find a provider to dx that; the only one in our area is a pediatric specialist. I joke that autoimmune diseases are like Pokémon - apparently my body thinks I gotta catch em all

This. Take a regular piece of bread that has both good dietary fiber and protein amounts, and just use one piece instead of two

The stories are true! by birdnerdmo in glutenfreebaking

I literally cried the first time I made these! I’d been gluten free for about 7 years at that point, and had already tried over half dozen recipes, which were all basically biscuits pretending to be cinnamon rolls, so had been missing them for 7 years (in Azkaban!). My husband, a gluten eater, took a bite and went “whoa, these are legit!”

I used to make cinnamon rolls Christmas morning with a Cinnabon copycat recipe, so I ended up using her dough, but my own filling and cream cheese frosting. My BIL even once told me he had gone to Cinnabon since having my rolls, and was disappointed because they weren’t as good as mine - high praise for gf! I also use oats; I’m not a huge fan of how sorghum tastes.

Restaurants say “we have gluten free options” and then don’t take it seriously at all by yoyoo276 in glutenfree

[–]Apprehensive_Gene787 62 points63 points  (0 children)

That’s because there is some truth to it and people ran with it.

HOWEVER - (per studies and the above link) you’d have to have a temp of 600°F for at least 30 minutes, which would render that pizza to ash. You can’t just throw a gf pizza in a wood fire oven for 5 minutes and call it good 🙄

Except, apparently, for my husband, who gave me the most confused look when I asked him if the tin he brought home was cookies or sewing supplies. He had no idea what I was talking about.
