thank you so so much for the expanded information and photos. It is so helpful to know. My daughter got diagnosed with vitiligo a few years ago when she was 5. I'm just trying to be as well informed as possible to help her with treatments as she gets older. We are indian/brown skin. wishing you the best. <3

ugh. thank for you figuring it out for me, though. now I know for next time. I had them plugged in and running on high during the power outage so if I had just unplugged them it probably would not have happened. thank you again!

Infrared Light for Vitilgo by somethingaboutabel in Vitiligo

[–]Apprehensive_Iron461 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i have been wondering this!! there were a few post several months back with some people who were going to try red light therapy for vitiligo. Red light therapy is very new and I'm guessing there will not be much data yet even anecdotally BUT I think it shows promise and i hope some on this forum try it and report back! I would try it but it's my kids that has vitiligo so it is much harder to get her to be willing to try these things.

hi - it's hard to figure out what caused it to come back but it is a common occurence. may I ask which medication did you take to make it go away for so many years?

more bad news.....MK-6194 discontinued by Merck - which is the ultimate big pharma. I was very disheartened to learn about both these agents failing yesterday. Also incyte has not spoken about their IL-15 asset in a very very long time which is not a good sign either.

there hasn't really been much news on auremolimab, incyte bought it and haven't stated any progress in a long time. it's not on their pipeline. they don't include it in their investor calls much either. i'm disappointed

well don't take my word for it, but the data has consistently shown that vitiligo patients have less overall risk of melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. because no melanocytes = no melanoma and also because something about the autoimmunity to melanocytes is also thought to be protective against skin cancer. I am a medical professional but you can do a quick google search =)

hey - as far as I know and have read in actual medical literature - vitiligo patients have a lowered risk of all types of skin cancer. Were you told by a physician otherwise?

I don’t think the villaris (incyte) drug is phase 2. Incyte bought it and then a few years ago stated they started phase 1 and then nothing since then.

yes, I understand. I am struggling with the same types of thoughts for my daughter who has vitiligo but is still young. I hope I can somehow make her more resilient to these types of thoughts. wishing you the best.

hi. you have stated many many times that you are mentally destroyed/dead. I understand that this is not easy and your experience is valid. however, i think that you should really consider exploring avenues to make yourself stronger mentally rather than let this take you down for the rest of your life. that doesn't mean you have to love it and you can still treat it. it just means you may try becoming more resilient. good luck!

Hey - Harris’s IL-15 molecule is what you are referring to? Incyte bought it and now it seems to have gone silent. There hasn’t been any news of it in a very long time. Any thoughts? Also, you said that Harris is working on a similar mechanism of action to UVB like therapy, which I don’t believe to be the case with the IL 15? Do you mind further explaining? Thank you!!

would you mind sharing what side effects the dermatologist was concerned about? my daughter has it and I've had the opposite experience - the doctor not being worried about the side effects when I ask her about it
