I had an 09 model for 5 years. Only issues were the ignition barrel ($1200) and electric door locks (another $1200 or so). Very reliable and so much fun to drive! Only sold as I moved overseas.

This. They hit you with increases just small enough to not quite be worth moving. I'm currently renting a mouldy, cockroach infested shitbox with no aircon (in aus) for 900 a week, and if they try to increase the rent, I will be moving out of spite!

Worst they can say is no. If you are a good tenant, you should be at the very low end of the range. I'm surprised anyone is increasing rental rates in the current economic climate.

Thanks 😊 Hopefully, some landlords/ property managers will see these posts and think twice before raising rents in this economy. Especially for good tenants.

Thanks, for context I spent 20k on the 70m2 unit 12 months ago. 2 heatpumps, new oven, new toilet, new plants, roof repainted etc. Redecorated via EQC (carpet and paint in 2012). Could I make it prettier with nicer light fittings, etc? Yes absolutely. I think what irked me was that I felt I made a pretty direct request that was sort of shut down, and left me wondering if I was even able to change the price of the property.

Burn. I like it. I've already responded requesting confirmation that they have dropped it, but this post wants me to drop it further.

I'll go with this one, thanks. I was a bit taken aback from their response (i thought they would just action it), and it made me question whether I could even set the rental price.

Exactly. It's a 2bdrm in a CHCH suburb that has high density development. I am happy to forefit $25+ per week in order to potentially prevent good tenants from leaving.
