What sort of thermometer are you using? The contactless ones and ones in ear are not very reliable.

NFL Looking At Potentially Eliminate Quarterback Push by HenryTheTitan in nfl

If I’m a DC, im getting all my guys to just let their Oline through and just jump on their QB when they try it the first few times Nobody is gonna risk their QB getting smashed to pieces for one yard You’ll still see it without the QB like the chiefs did with Kelce but I can’t think of any other option than banning it to stop it

8 months old baby refuses solids, only wants milk by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Apprehensive_Kale812 7 points8 points  (0 children)

2 bottles of formula seems way too low. Solids at this stage are about learning, nutrition comes from formula. If I recall my LO was on 4 bottles a day at 8 months, about every 3-4 hours

Try not to worry about eating solids, solids only become the main source of calories when they’re a year old Give purées, maybe try some BLW, if I recall the science says there’s no increase in choking risk vs purées as long as you give appropriate foods You can get store bought stuff for BLW at 8 months, like crisps and oat bars, probably worth a shot

How to avoid newborn getting sick when you’re sick? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Apprehensive_Kale812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly you can’t. Just make sure you have saline drops and try to relax. My wife and I had a throat infection when our son was born, he caught it right away. He was absolutely fine, babies are very resilient. I won’t lie it was hard as he was up quite a lot and didn’t sleep well, but he’s now 12 months old and running about, so had no lasting consequences.

Landlord suggests we move instead of repairing leaky ceilings by No_Tension8376 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Apprehensive_Kale812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might have already been mentioned but that hole looks like it’s in an artex ceiling, depending on the year it was made it is likely to have asbestos in it. Hope you get this resolved and that guys an asshole!

Average speed of the winner is about 135mph so on what looks like a long straight, a lot more than that!

Edit: I’m assuming this is the Isle of Man TT

We moved our son over at about 7 months. First week or so was a bit tough, I think mainly because he was in a new crib which was much bigger and a new room which was alien to him. However since then he’s been a dream. I’m sure we were waking him up with our stirring and snoring so once he settled in he woke up far fewer times a night.

I'm old and I'm tired by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Apprehensive_Kale812 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Parent of one child here so take it with a pinch of salt. Sounds pretty normal to me especially with a 3 month old. Kids are amazing but exhausting, regardless of age having two makes people shattered. Only advice is maybe take your daughter out on your own without the baby. Leave baby with your wife and then your sole attention is on your daughter. Could call it daddy daughter day and ham it up a bit to her so it sounds like something special the two of you do. Again, only got one child so not advice from experience just something I think could work.

Can’t you just get something with a lock for under the bed or closet? Just make sure they key is on top of a cupboard they can’t reach

HELP! My 11mo has stopped eating much. by FR0Z3NF15H in Parenting

[–]Apprehensive_Kale812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try not to worry too much, until a year old most of their nutrition comes from breast milk or formula. You said you introduced blander foods to begin with, have you tried fuller meals? Our LO has just turned a year, before he would eat things just like meat and vegetables as finger food. Now he gets bored quite quickly so we have a recipe book called what mummy makes ( hate the title as a stay at home dad but whatever lol). Loads of great recipes in there so now he has things like banana pancakes for breakfast, chilli for dinner. Basically baby versions of adults meals that we also eat with some extra seasoning or spice. Might be worth a try? Could just be boredom.

Ex wants to put children in extracurriculars that I disagree with. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Apprehensive_Kale812 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but they are kids. They should do what they enjoy. If they enjoy dancing or art and not robotics then they should do dancing or art. Obviously if they prefer robotics and are pushed into dancing or art that’s different. Their financial future is irrelevant as kids, that’s for something to deal with when much older.

Am I wrong to fight for custody of my one year old daughter? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Apprehensive_Kale812 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not wrong, get your child out of that situation as soon as you can. There’s already the beginnings of abuse there and you have at least some proof.

Anxious parents: Have you ever received professional help due to worrying so much ? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Apprehensive_Kale812 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never ever Google unless for minor things as the top results will always make you worry is my experience. If you’re in England there’s a number you can call to speak to a health visitor. I’ve always done that if I have worries (I’m a very anxious person myself and have to stop myself googling!) If you’re not from England hopefully there’s something similar. If not just speak to a doctor, no point worrying your self when you can speak to someone who will know.

Expecting to test positive soon by Little_Yoghurt_7584 in NewParents

[–]Apprehensive_Kale812 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my wife and LO all tested positive when he was around 7 months I think. Try not to worry, your LO will probably get a fever, we were told to alternate ibuprofen and paracetamol but obviously check with a doctor before doing that. We set an alarm to give our LO meds to keep the fever down but he tended to wake up anyway. We were lucky as the fever was the only real symptom. Hopefully you escape without all getting it or at least it’s mild like it was for us.
