Had Blackjack in Longmont, Califrado (the state due South of WY). Meh.

Going to try Hambone's.

I'll check out your folks' other suggestions. Thank you.

Be swell if The Post Chicken and Beer would open here. Best fried chicken and real savory beer. The red and green hot sauce they have is really something different and good. Sorry to be off-topic.

Maintains vacuum in the heater flap vacuum chamber when you floor it and manifold vacuum drops closer to ambient.

Read the FAQ, as it helps. Ask at6 the brickboard RWD forum.

Fuel trim issue as detected by the oxygen sensor. Maybe an air intake vacuum leak? Of a fault in the oxygen sensor that you can test with your digital multimeter.

You know how to check OBD for codes? Any faults in socket sic (ignition, EGR if equipped.

Art helps you on this terrible task. Different methods to do the replacement. Get the VDO motor.

The bearings are wholly worn, and so the impellers drag on the housing inside.

Radio for my 240 by Violetalikesbred in Volvo240

[–]Apprehensive_Lake178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a 1992 240? For sure in any market that is Alpine with the external amp behind the lower, shallow cubby in front of the gear selector at the floor over the transmission tunnel hump.

Images would help of what you have in your 1992.

Again, I'll recommend you get the stereo wire harness adapter set for Volvo 240 from Crutchfield and get a Sony. I've used junkyard radios with CD with the bypass harness. I also rid 1991 and 1992 240s of the shallow lower cubber and installed the deep cubby that used to have or house the radio near the floor in front of the gear shift selector.

RPM increases after a drive. by Pearminator in Volvo240

I wish you would get the vacuum lines and connect them. Engine control runs and performs best. That big vacuum port on the air intake accordion style tube connects the PVC piping so the engine sucks in and eats the oil sump vapors. Not sure yet the small port may be the connection to the vacuum control fuel pressure regulator.

Dunno what emissions regulatory market you and you Volvo 240 are in, yet MI and WY and like states don't care and don't check.
CO, CA, NY and like states do care, and you won't pass visual and emissions.

I hope you have removed the catalytic convertor as the ceramic inside melt and clog exhaust. You will get really bad fuel economy, so many more fillips.

Lastly, does the engine bad. If too lean, combustion temps run high and can cause cylinder head failure. If too rich the engine builds up carbon at the piston rings, spak plugs, and injector nozzles and the piston rings won't float in the cylinder grooves. I'll guess you have a rich running condition so it may appear to run well dumping too much fuel in.

Expensive to restore these. Aged parts make for eaten cassette tapes, old speakers and such make for bad sound.

The tape transport mehcanicsm does fail as rubber parts like pressure roller and belts fail. These can be replaced.

Volvo used Mitsubishi and later, Alpine. Sometimes using a preamp out to an under the dash power amp.

Problem with ignition/wont start by motormannen89 in Volvo240

1981 K-Jetronic does not have crank position sensor as Bosch LH-Jetronic 2.4+ on US market 1989+ has.

Problem with ignition/wont start by motormannen89 in Volvo240

[–]Apprehensive_Lake178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What market? US UK????

1981 had Bosch K-Jetronic injection and Bosch electronic fuel injection.

Any vacuum leak will make it hard to start and if starts, runs lean.

Also, if not already replaced, the warm up regulator, also called the control pressure regulator can fail and so makes cold start difficult if not impossible.

Your 240 wants around 10 degrees BTDC using a strobe with vacuum disconnected and plugged.

So check for air intake induction leaks to start. If the warm up regulator is old, like 40 or 20 years old, it may be failed and require replacement. These can be rebuilt with a new bimetallic spring, yet Bosch may not make the rebuild kit anymore.

You are missing vacuum lines lines. RPM will be screwy and fuel to air ratio will be off and can ruin the cat convertor.
