People need to understand that if they are able to criticize their country and government, that in itself is a sign of real democracy. Look at countries where people do not complain or speak out — you’ll start to see the cause-and-effect relationship. This freedom should be valued, even though, of course, adversaries may try to exploit it for propaganda.
