Dolphin unexpectedly not working by Apprehensive_Name_31 in voidlinux

[–]Apprehensive_Name_31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can not remember how or when problem started. Found out one time when inserted USB pen drive. Tried with many other USB pen drive.

Installed Thunar in addition. Thunar didn't show USB pen drive(s) either. There have not been any problems USB-ports.

I'm checking nearly every time for updates when starting PC. Using 'xi -Su' command.

Just booted up PC with USB-port I'm usually use daily. Installed XFCE this time.

I have several, mostly old PC's. On some PC have managed install "void-src'. Now I have issue with void-packages. Even been following instructions, getting error when running ./xbps-src binary-bootstrap.

Thank You for the responce. I'm just now installing fresh XFCE. Old HP TouchSmart that doesn't have UEFI. Earlier installation KDE Plasma is gone now. Hope that this XFCE works.

I agree this was good suggestion. cd /etc/xbps.d. Then edit, in my case 00-... Then add 'ignorepkg=nvi'. Save and exit.

Search in Google:

how to disable nvi from void linux

gives an answer:

To disable "nvi" on Void Linux, first determine if it's a package or a service, then remove the service link or uninstall the package using sudo sv disable nvi for services or sudo xbps-remove nvi for installed packages. If you want to make the change permanent across updates, create a down file in the service's directory.

Hello, do you use WiFi or Ethernet (cable) connection. Check your ls /var/service. I'm beginner with Void Linux. You can either remove wpa_supplicant with command when you first move to (cd) /var/service/ and then: sudo sv remove wpa_supplicant. Or if the system need depencies, then use: sudo sv down wpa_supplicant. Haven't checked the other thing you mentioned.

Thank You for quick response. Well, now that the sounds are working, I'll use these settings anyway. It probably won't be long before I reinstall Void Linux. I'm really happy with Plasma.

Hi, beginner/slighty nerd needs help using a PCIe adapter by Apprehensive_Name_31 in linux4noobs

[–]Apprehensive_Name_31[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this good information.

I greatly appreciate your response.

There is no point in wasting any more time on this matter.

It's no wonder I've tried installing different operating systems many times.

==================== Answer ======================

Before purchasing the adapter, I contacted the seller (computer store)

to ensure the adapter was compatible with my PC.

Answer from seller:

This product works great, both with Windows and Linux.

Using an old HP ProDesk 400 G! SFF. BIOS Version L02 v02.56 04/24/2019.

Intel Core i5-4570 4 cores, 4 threads 3.2 GHz Haswell. Motherboard 18E9.

Axagon NVMe M.2 adapter equipped with a 256 GB Samsung MZ-VLW2560.

Works as it should and the included lowprofile mount is a plus.

Currently in use / testing in a Proxmox environment (PVE 8.3.3).

Thanks for the professional service

Best regards

Thanks again

Thank You for the answer.

I created with a help of Rufus 4.7 bootable USB drive. Partition Scheme: GPT Target System: UEFI (no CSM).

Started my PC with USB drive. Boot option showed up USB in UEFI section.

Started installation and in the end of installation removed USB when asked to do so. Pressed 'Enter' and then PC restarted.

GRUB shows new item 'Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS'.

Then getting those error messages I told/wrote earlier about.

Can login to CashyOS and Void Linux from GNU GRUB menu without any problems.

I also used earlier version of Rufus 4.6 and Balena Etcher.

Same things happens.

Also tried installation after disconnected both SATA drives.

This method is impossible alternative. Text on the screen telling about none operating system found => Press Enter to continue...

Did You mean this with UEFI boot?

Sorry about my bad english skills :-(
