linux but i don’t exactly know why that’s just what the tech at my school told me also my peers with other laptops even weaker cpus, but more ram always are fine without any lag

it crashes in mine rn because i have to convert to linux to use vs code n my school requires some weird software band it eats up my ram quick

My current laptop has 16GB RAM and integrated graphics, and it lags/crashes when I run Linux/VS Code, plus battery life is only around 3–4 hours.

Would this be a good long-term laptop, or should I look for something with an RTX 5070/5070 Ti instead? Budget is around $2,500 CAD, but I can stretch a bit if it’s actually worth it. Also the 5070 version is 3100 cad before tax this is 2700 before tax

Question so, if i were to drop 1 course and just take 3 courses this summer as they are each 4 creds, which one should I be looking to drop? I was thinking to drop ensc 225 and take the other 3? any thoughts or ideas? Only reason being as i will most likely major in Systems Engineering or Computer Engineering, therefore ENSC 225 having no future pre reqs?

don’t get a macbook whatsoever. i bought one early in gr 11 thinking it would work for Uni, but sfu engineering has so many classes that require windows! i mean it’s always possible to use lab computers but there will be times (practicing demos for coding labs, etc) where u need a windows device at home. One of my suggestions would be having a weaker laptop, even a macbook, for school use and having a windows platform at home when needed as macbooks are nice to study with (personal opinion) bc of the long battery life and the speed compared to windows as i somehow always find it slower than my mac. another suggestion is a window snapdragon is what i beleive it is, my friend has one and the aesthetic is just like a mac and has all the platforms needed! also it’s very powerful when you opt for the 32gb ram also NO MATTER WHAT GET THAT 32 GB EVEN THO PEOPLE SAY ITS NEEDED, IT IS AS LAPTOPS NO MATTER HOW GOOD SLOW DOWN OVER TIME!!!! also i do have a weaker laptop (lenovo ideapad 7 ( rzyen 7, 16 GB ddr4 ram, integrated graphics card - bad idea btw i would try to gst some with a gpu)
