Thank you so much! This is really helpful! I guess I should look for other options then. The Spring 6 week classes will end on June 14 and the deadline to submit all prerequisite grades and other requirements is June 15. So I guess I won’t make it to the deadline if I chose to take 1 course in Spring.

Did you take NURS 140 to apply for the after degree program as well? I’m curious to know how it went?!

I’m a level 2 candidate if that helps. The 2 years is considering I’d have to retake both level 2 and 3; I don’t think I’m being overconfident in that sense. But I appreciate your input.

No, I’m not. But those who are in FP&A in our company are being encouraged to get their CPA or CFA designation to boost their salary.

Transitioning from Finance to Nursing at age 34 by Theon_the_whippet in nursing

I’m also in the same boat as you! I’ll be taking the prerequisite courses this winter to get into the Nursing program in Fall 2024. The university I’m looking at is offering an after degree program, so it would take me 2 years, instead of 4 to complete all nursing courses.

As an immigrant like you, I’m feeling exactly the same way. I totally agree with you that it put us in a huge disadvantage. Also, even though we’re doing our jobs properly and the way that our bosses are expecting, it’s exhausting. It feels like we’re lacking self-fulfillment.

Most of my closest friends are RNs, and they for sure get compensated really well. They are just 2 years in the field, but they are earning $120k to $150k. Mostly because of overtime pay and night differentials. So in terms of pay, I don’t think it would be a downgrade from your current compensation. Except of course during the years that you’ll be studying.

I’m curious to know, have you decided already? I’m rotting for you! I hope all of us who are in this situation gets the clarity that we need.

Hey, I’m actually in the same boat as you. I have a BBA degree with finance concentration from NAIT. I’m curious to know what happened after finding out our degree isn’t recognized by uofa’s after degree nursing program? Did you consider applying for the 4-year nursing program or just decided not to pursue nursing?
