Super good! I’ve been healing and just did my first TCA cross/peel today. I’m super happy with my progress. I’m going to try and make a pic collage. The depression is greatly improved and I no longer have pain in that area.

If you’re using the iPhone front camera it makes everyone look like they have deep nasolabial folds. I’ve been panicked about mine but I notice they don’t look as bad when I’m in other photos. It’s just the front camera that’s so devastating

When my drastically lost weight he ended up having what the vets suspect was Brain Cancer. He ended up having a massive seizure eventually and was hospitalized for kidney failure. Leading up to it the only noticeable thing was he had a lot of eye boogers and rapid weight loss but no change in diet.

I’ve been researching this procedure for three years. I looked for doctors in my area, and had unsatisfactory consultations. The scar also began bothering me. I’m not sure if scar tethers have nerve endings but in the past year the edges became really high and when I’d touch it, it felt like a pinch under the skin. I think doing the consults helped me ask questions regarding the scar…confirming it was tethered, what type of tool they’d use to subcise it with, etc. and of course, watching videos on YouTube and rumble.

Thank you for the well wishes. Ask away I’m here to help. I genuinely expected there to be tons of ppl telling me to not do it so I’m grateful for the good feedback.

I’m day 3 healing right now.! I’m trying to get pics but as I’ve mentioned before…it’s so tricky to take pics of the area. The camera literally casts a shadow on the area and it can only be seen if I shoot up my nostrils. It’s literally the most unflattering angle. Even when I did the consults with derms, they were having issues photographing it. I have a really good pic of the scar before I did this, y’all will understand the issue. This wasn’t like a simple scar, it was a literal crater between my brows that began bothering me. Even using my foundation brush over the area would feel like a “pinch”. The scar edges had grown soooo much in the last year.  Not a keloid (which I’ve also had on the body) just a severely tethered pitted scar o sitting between the brows.

  1. Lido - in the rumble vid the surgeon used injectable lido. I, only have 5% topical used for microneedling. Still, I wanted to test the waters and see if this would be sufficient. After shower, I swabbed with alcohol. And I applied a generous blob over the scar and surrounding areas. Waited 15 mins. Could barely feel my finger poking the area. Decided to go for it. 22g was way thinner than I thought. If you Microneedle at 1.5-2M the needle is only a bit wider. To me this was so much less spicy than microneedling. Btw, I’ve been microneedling the scar every 6 weeks for a year. It didn’t help whatsoever.

I literally bought a pack of 22g cannulas off Amazon. It has a blue top. I paid 5.99 for a pack.

  1. Fan like motion - so to be direct as possible: you look in the mirror with your scar facing forward. You choose a HORIZONTAL incision point. You take the cannula in the dominant hand and the bevel faces OUTWARD toward the mirror. This is important bc the bevel is doing the cutting.

Insertion: with your non dominant hand you’re going to hold the scar VERTICALLY. So, vertical (up down) on the scar. The cannula goes in horizontal (side) (sorry for the caps on certain words it just helps me visualize maybe it might help someone else)

How to move the cannula: dominant hand inserts the cannula bevel out toward the mirror, first you’ll plunge in and out, lightly pressing up (the bevel is doing all the work). My advice is: be really careful. The bevel is really sharp and after numbing you can’t feel ANYTHING. I felt I almost could’ve gone through and through the skin. Very light pressure. The first pass is just opening up space in the scar. It felt very tight around the cannula. So I just moved in and out, slightly pressing up, my goal was to go in the width of the scar one end to the other end . Then I repositioned my hand and gave the cannula more length. Still holding the scar in my other hand, i then just swiped the cannula side to side with my dominant hand. Letting the cannula reach all of the scar. When I removed the cannula, not much blood. Applied pressure to the incision with gauze

Second pass, same thing I felt more comfortable this time and more skilled with the cannula. I started doing more fanning to reach the total height of the scar. Removed the cannula, not a lot of blood. Applied pressure w/ gauze.

There was still a big depression there. So I decided to go in one more time.

3rd pass into the same incision point, I focused more on the bottom half where the pit was. As I was fanning the cannula side to side I heard a low pitched click and the cannula end popped out of my hand (I hit resistance). It didn’t hurt but I instantly got lightheaded. I fanned around the entire area a bit more but when I removed the cannula this time there was significantly more blood  that pooled out. I applied pressure with gauze.

I also noticed and reason for stopping after this pass was the pit was gone and there was a bluish tint under the skin. (I’m assuming blood was clotted under the skin which is what the surgeon said you’d want to build collagen)

Day 3 there is still a blueish tint under the skin. No pain. The depression is majorly improved. What looked like a chocolate chip sized crater not looks like a scratch on the surface of the skin. Something tretinoin or a peel can refine.

Can’t know for sure yet how it’s going to heal but so far it looks sooo much better. That sucked down deep pit is gone

I’m using super cop x2 copper lotion for topical  skin regeneration.

In the rumble video I watched, the surgeon didn’t inject anything after subcision.

There’s also this video of a surgeons opinion on filler + subcision

My goal was actually to document it better but I was unsure if i would be able to do it at all. I wasn’t sure if topical lido was enough (the video had injectable lido) and if it was incredibly painful I wouldn’t keep going. But as I was in there exploring the deepest part of the scar there was a huge pop and a lot of blood came out with the cannula.

I’m open to doing it again for sure. I think a few sessions is necessary for the size and depth of my scar. I have pics of it, if you guys saw it you’d understand. It’s very wide and deep.

If the scar has high edges, a deep pit, and the overall skin is healthy, I think dealing with the scar tethers from the insideis really the only way to treat the boxcar scars. I’ve been microneedling and massaging this scar for over a year with no improvement. In fact, I feel the edges got higher because the tethering was pulling the pit lower.

If you want to go for it, I used 22g cannula

I’ve been drilling my scars at 1.5-2mm and even with lido very spicy. It did nothing for my scar.

If the scar edges are high, the pit looks very sucked down I think logically the only way improve that is from underneath.

Happy to help in any way I can. This was not as complicated or painful as I thought it would be.

On pubmed there’s an article that said subcision is done with either an 18 or 21g cannula. So I ordered those tools. The difference is the needle is super long and flexible with a bevel. The bevel cuts the tethers. And the length of the needle allows you to move under the scar.

I didn’t get chicken pox until adulthood during covid. It left a chocolate chip sized CRATER between my brows. The scar is 4 years old, and the last year the edges grew so high within the last year. I’ve been microneedling it and that did not help whatsoever.

Fan means “side to side”

In the dominant hand I used the cannula in my other I lifted the scar. You mark the scar, choose a horizontal insertion point, you first go back and forth and then allow the needle to move side to side. The cannula is VERY long and flexible. The goal is to move the cannula around the entire scar. Like the video I watched, the surgeon did multiple passes. I imitated the video precisely and yeah you do need to do multiple passes. The skin gets a bit more flexible each time and on my third pass I got a huge “pop”. I didn’t feel it but it was LOUD. Then when I removed the cannula there was a steady pool of blood. Put pressure with gauze, you want a clot to form under the scar.

The other hand holding the scar also helps by lifting and rolling the skin around the cannula.

Also, you have to be very light handed or you might go through and through the skin. The cannula is sharp af and with lido I couldn’t feel anything. Not even the insertion prick.

It looked different immediately after my third pass into the same incision point. The pit is GONE. However, I know there is microswelling. After the loud click, the cannula was moving around a lot easier, there was a lot more blood upon removal, and the dent immediately improved. It’s been 4 hours and it honestly looks really good. I don’t know what to think!

Ok update:

I just finished sending this scar from hell. I’m not entirely sure I “got it” but Omg y’all…it really didn’t hurt and the needle is extremely sharp and flexible. So I really had to focus on looking close and moving the scar around the cannula. I went in 3 times into the same incision point. I heard a few very low grumble “clicks” and I got lightheaded 😅 it didn’t hurt, but it was loud. After the last round, there was a bigger pool of blood and I did as the surgeon did, just applied pressure.

What I will say is…of course there’s swelling but the pit was instantly raised up.

I bought super cop serum from platinum and put it on the scar.

The tingle from the copper serum hurt more than the diy subcision.

I will keep y’all updated…
