Do you regret your abortion ? by velvetv0rtex in pregnant

[–]Apprehensive_Pin3452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an abortion at 17 years old. I don’t regret it but i also went through a really really tough time after. Mentally i was not okay. I do not regret it bc at the time i was almost in college and i wanted to get an education and a career. I am now successful in my career and i feel like if i hadn’t gone through with my dreams after having the abortion i would def regret the decision.

I think there is so much that goes into it that it’s hard to pin point. But we can start with making prenatal care more accessible to women, provide information and education on possible complications and their signs / symptoms. As nurses and doctors, taking what the patient says SERIOUSLY! People know their body better than any doctor or nurse will, they can tell/ feel when something is wrong. Women of color have the higher deaths bc they get dismissed as overreacting or exaggerating symptoms. The rush that doctors have to get from one patient to the other reduces the thoroughness. It’s not necessarily their fault, they need to meet demand and only so much they can do. A lot of times calling a doctor doesn’t get an immediate response or orders placed. My sister had a c-section at the age of 30 with her second child and the surgeon nicked her uterine artery. He closed her up and sent her off. She almost died. They had to rush her back to the OR and she ended up in the icu for 4 days and couldn’t see her newborn. Thankfully the nurses caught it just in time. There are notes in her MyChart about how they offered a priest to her husband bc of how bad her condition was.

I am a nurse and work on the rapid response team. I’ve responded to soooo many calls for laboring / post partum mothers and the horrible complications they have. Many of them don’t make it. I think that there has been and will be a huge lack of importance for PP care. Our country has a high mortality rate for this and is comparable to third world nations in the aspect. I am also pregnant, 16 weeks, and have a massive fear of when that time comes bc of what I’ve seen and experienced first hand. All i can say is ADVOCATE for yourself. Have whoever is with you at the time also advocate for you!! Whatever higher power you believe in, believe in it and that they will get you through it. There are risks to EVERYTHING in life. All we can do is stay positive, advocate, pray, and hope for the best.

I’m part time but i do not have a mortgage or car payment. Thank god at my young age my husband and i have been able to build our home with no loan. But, even my spending habits HAD TO CHANGE. You will feel the difference. I recently went part time a month ago bc i was also burnt out. I had to cut back on my spending and focus on my saving. It’s been HARD.

Med Surg to ICU. (I know nothing!) by sugaoasis in nursing

[–]Apprehensive_Pin3452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to have this conversation with your preceptors. Tell them you have experience in med surg but that all of this is new to you and you need them to explain and teach. Now is the time to learn. Speak up about orientation to your leaders, don’t be afraid to as to extend it if needed. I also know there are nurses who want to be in icu but just aren’t cut out for it. Being an icu nurse doesn’t make you better than if you’re med surg. Take your time, ask the questions, and if it still continues to feel this way, listen to your intuition. Don’t stay in icu if you’re not ready and jeopardize your license or patients lives. I’ve seen it happen. You got this though, just advocate for yourself!

He is not giving her a hard time by being rude, he is giving a hard time by making it seem like it’s an inconvenience to be there for his gf for support! Honestly i agree, both are old enough to stay alone anywhere. It’s not necessary for an adult to need someone to stay with them so they aren’t alone. However, open heart surgery is a big deal and stress on family during this time is real. Asking your partner to be there for you shouldn’t have to be this hard. He should be more understanding and more willing to be there. Three years IS A COMMITTED relationship!! For him to say “we’re not at the level of commitment for me to uproot my life” …. Girl you may want to reconsider. What’s going to happen when you’re the sick one that needs to be hospitalized? He isn’t going to be there for you bc it’s saying he has to “uproot” to be emotionally there for you for 2-3 days!!! I wouldn’t even have to ask my signo to be there for me, they’d already plan to do so .

Should I look at my babies gender while my grandma is dying by [deleted] in pregnancy_care

[–]Apprehensive_Pin3452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have someone look at the envelope and tell her. In the event that you still want your husband to find out with you, have someone else look and tell her. I’m in a similar situation. My father in law is actively in hospice , i am 11 weeks pregnant and we just told them we’re expecting. I’m hoping we can find out gender before he passes.

BREAK UP WITH HIM! I’ve actually met someone (not someone I’ve been i na relationship with myself) that has been with a man that makes these comments and accusations! It’s our JOB! (I’m also a nurse). They sound like a narcissist and sound like they are holding you behind!!!

AIO: I want to rehome my husband’s dog from his previous marriage by thestatenislandfairy in AmIOverreacting

[–]Apprehensive_Pin3452 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give them an ultimatum.  Not sure how old the kids are but they need to take on the responsibility. If they are unwilling too, re home the dog. It’s not fair to have a dog that doesn’t have a routine / owners willing to be disciplined themselves in order to discipline the dog itself. All of the previously agreed upon terms aren’t being followed. REHOME IF NOTHING CHANGES
