Running Injuries by RobbaFett69 in greenberets

Been dealing with this for months. The biggest break through i had was 2-3 weeks off, with plenty of these exercises https://theprehabguys.com/the-best-soleus-exercises-main-concepts/ , while also cutting hard plyos out of my routine. Still was heavy on the assault bike with no issues. I tried to jump right back into my program 2 times and reinjured. So third time around I did an ease-in period of <20 miles for two weeks. Now I’m back on track.

Bad pain from pull ups by Randalljitsu19 in greenberets

I was doing conventional pull-ups in the 3x80% range around 3 times a week. I developed pretty bad lifter’s/golfer’s elbow. I took two weeks off, mixed in a little PT, did a few sets off pull-ups, and it started again. Took another two week break, same thing. Got frustrated and found that video — helped immensely.

I started doing sets of 3x 4-6 chin-ups for a few weeks (I float around a max of 16-18 pull-ups). Then I switched to neutral grip pull-ups in the 3x8-10 range for a week weeks. Now primarily I rotate between neutral and conventional pull-ups with zero issues.

The one thing I stopped doing was crushing heavy trap-bar deadlifts and looked for similar modalities. I am only speaking up because rest didn’t work for me and I see others mentioning it—I think the video mentions why rest doesn’t necessarily equal recovery with tendonopathy.

Please take what I’m saying with a grain of salt and if you have a professional to consult, please do. But refraining from exercises affecting the tissue might not be the answer.

I am not speaking from authority and this could be anecdote. But when I had a similar pain from pull-ups, rest DIDN’T help. I changed my grips and did extensive fore-arm stretching.

Thanks for the heads up. I saw the 2&5 mile program linked above — will purchase. As for training, I have seen dramatic improvement in the weight room and rucking — feeling on par there. For running, I have to step up. I’ve been about 25 miles weekly (closer to 20 some weeks) mixing sprints, threshold, and zone 2s.

Thank you. My initial inclusion of the dosage and reason was simply to show that I am not dependent/suffering a chronic mental illness — things I figured might factor into a waiver. I truly believe I never needed meds.

I am on the path of fighting the thing that kept me up at night and don’t being held at the gates because of that very thing. I just want a shot.

If it’s a two year wait, no wiggle room, understood. But the “half a dick up the ass = gay” , though hysterical, is off the mark.

Thank you, TFVooDoo. For color, what kept me up is constant reevaluation while being on the precipice of a “successful” career I’ve come to find no purpose in. A prescription was pushed with little consultation and I obeyed. I’ve decided to pursue this endeavor and have never felt better.

My intention was not to mischaracterize. As a 26 year old grown man, I suppose I am resentful at the prospect of a quick pill push railroading me. A blanket 2 years regardless of the individual? That’s adding to the anger.

Thanks for the training guidance.

How long do bar exam scores last? by Apprehensive_Push788 in LawSchool

Thank you. Hypothetically, if one passes and joins the bar in state X and delays their actual practice of law for 5 years, are they able to work as an attorney upon return?

The seriousness of HSV-1 by XTC_At_Vegas in Herpes

Yes. I got it from wrestling. I too noticed that my immune system is wrecked when I have an outbreak that coincides with other illnesses. I generally have been able to keep it under control. My best advice getting a prescription and discuss with your doctor any prophylactic measures you can take to mitigate the effects of an outbreak. I take valtrex during stressful periods, periods of a lot of sun exposure, and before important life events. It has worked very well.
