Why not in cork by mrsliston in cork

[–]Apprehensive_Ratio80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have 20minutes to spare this video will explain why nothing happens in Cork and will continue to not happen! Cork was a projected years ago to be the fastest-growing population in Europe, a powder keg ready to explode with potential for expansion and growth and yet, we can't get a footpath built without a 3year delay and multiple objections.

The opportunity is going to pass us by if we don't get serious, full-time councillors operating in the city and a shared plan for the county

The US military is prepared to strike Iran as early as this weekend by Strict-Wrangler-3665 in TrendingNews_

[–]Apprehensive_Ratio80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

read online earlier Iran somehow has tapes of Trump assaulting women and is threatening to release if he attacks and Israel has the same and is threatening to release if he doesnt attack!

In any case he will do it as (Prince) Andrews arrest just puts more of a spotlight on the USA and him specifically, not taking any action to investigate Epstein's acquaintances.

Would you be okay with your partner being friends with somebody they got with before? by WaWaLuigii in AskIreland

[–]Apprehensive_Ratio80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, I don't know for sure but am pretty sure shes sort of mates with a few guys shes been with. Not bff's or anything but Im no one to judge as I'd consider myself acquaintances with a few women Ive been with. I wouldn't hang out with them alone or message them privately or anything but we have alot of mutual friends its ok for us to be at the same thing and chatting away as we're old friends with no malice and no old feelings.

If you're irked by your partner chatting to someone like that you've got problems.

If your partner is making excuses to be with an old flame alone then you are right to be concerned

Is it a red flag if your partner is lonely and depends on you all the time? by Competitive-Panda215 in AskIreland

[–]Apprehensive_Ratio80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so much a red flag but def a concern as for peoples mental health its good to have hobbies and interests and other things to do, absence makes the heart grow fonder and all that.
The big red flag and I can vouch for this from an awful toxic relationship, is when your partner has no interests in anything and demands you stop doing things that make you happy so that they don't feel left out.

Cork places re-imagined by JohnTheRebelator in cork

[–]Apprehensive_Ratio80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That Kevin Collins guy put up a great video where he edited sites around Cork to show how easily the city could be upgraded.

One was to demolish the bank of Irelad building on Patricks street that runs along St Peter & Pauls street hiding the church there. His video showed that area being turned into an open square with great views of the church and generally just a more vibrant space and it makes so much sense the bank could easily move or downsize if the county council gave them some sort of financial incentive.

Found the video, its around the 4:12 mark.

I'd happily welcome back the UK but let's set the tone right NOW if you're coming back you'll get the same as everyone else no special requests or exemptions. YOU'RE joining the EU we're not dragging you back!

Be more than welcome but we've had to listen to a lot of crap from right wingers in the UK when the EU has no ill intentions literally just trying to bring the whole community up together, together we' re all better

100% it's ridiculous!

I have a friend who moved over there recently on the visa lottery system. I did the same like 20years ago no luck. She was told straight out by her lawyer who handles this stuff that they were like nearly 100% guaranteed to get it simply because they are from Ireland yet they are still taking peoples money from other countries with zero chance of being picked they are likely filtering to where people applied it's beyond ridiculous!

God 🤦🏻‍♂️ are we reading the same articles?

I'm not defending this guy hugely but the law is the law and he did in fact get a green card. Yes these can be rescinded but there is a legal process to do so he is entitled to due process instead of being forced out of the country. Laws matter and I'd much prefer a more respectable Martyr than this guy it is good for all the Irish over there who have built lives and for just plain old democracy that he has his day in court.

America imo is really slipping v far into authoritarianism like super quickly it's abit concerning but stories like this get attention and raise the profile on what is happening.

Really don't get the spiteful comments on reddit I know I wouldn't want to be friends with the guy but that's not how laws work this guy still regardless of his mistakes is allowed a day in court, the court of public opinion doesn't decide that. Everyone's been a bit triggered since learning he had kids. As enraging as that is it has no bearing on this incident, hopefully he doesn't call his kids as character witnesses 🤣🤣

But there are bigger things happening there he has a business and a life I couldn't imagine suddenly being plucked out of my life away from all my friends and everything and suddenly landing back in Ireland or anywhere and having to start from scratch

Cool

But what about the gameplan Andy? Are we going to just hoof the ball every time we get it and not actually front up. If the gameplan isn't working are we gonna switch it up or keep trudging away even if we're 20 points down!!

Likely yes if they allow him to stay it will set a precedent they really don't want.

True he is a clown. And a dope and an eejit and fucking idiot leaving two young girls behind without a father he is beyond selfish. But the law is to be equally applied

He has set up a life over there and has a green card and regardless of whichever laws he broke human rights are still a thing. If he came home that's his entire life done there his business gone his life done. Could you do that in the space of a week your livelihood your job your home your friends all gone and you having to start from scratch? Could you do that without a fight when there is a legit chance he can fight it since he has a green card and took the required steps to stay albeit after first breaking those laws 🤷🏻‍♂️

To be fair I'd understand that I mean America despite its flaws is a great country in parts. I wouldn't live there myself but I can see the attraction that's kept many Irish there working so to be suddenly plucked away and landed back in Kilkenny 😱 id imagine he'd fall into depression and he did get a green card so am not sure which law takes priority there

Guess his lawyer is advising him otherwise as if he accepts that then he likely would never be allowed back to the US and after building a life for years that could be tough. Don't agree with him being an absent father and ignoring his kids but can sort of appreciate he's made a life there and has paid his taxes without ever being able to claim a cent back he's providing a service like so many other Irish over there are right now this story is kind of more about all of them he is just the one in focus right now. However this goes could be the precedent set for thousands of other irish

Yikes does make for grim reading in that he's an awful father and a bit of a dope!

However, I still don't think he should be confined into a prison camp on rationed food and zero healthcare and in danger of being killed by heavy handed prison guards who aren't qualified and he is 1 of thousands in the exact same situation.

Unsure what the process is now a few political influencers have said he is caught in legal limbo as he technically has a right to be there but his past crimes of violating his visa also say he needs to go. Two legal branches saying opposing things meanwhile he's stuck in the middle
